Lucky introduction!

Hello everyone, my name is AJ! I was invited here from tumblr and thought, "Why not check it out? I love Pokémon, they love Pokémon, what could go wrong?"

I'm 25 years old, female, working as a freelance artist and selling my own artwork through merch or prints! I'm engaged and own three wonderful dogs. I've been a huge Pokémon fan since I was 8 years old, started with the anime before school, to Pokémon cards, and finally the soul-stealing part where my crush gave me his Pokémon Red game before moving away! I've loved Pokémon my entire life and thought at some point I'd grow out of it, but that day hasn't come and frankly I don't ever see it happening any more.

My favorite Pokémon is shiny magikarp! I even caught my official legit shiny magikarp in Pokémon Y when I was practicing chain fishing. His name is Fluke and he's my pretty partner. Not that anyone could guess other wise since I have a giant shiny magikarp plushie hanging from my ceiling....

I signed up on these forums as "Clover" who is one of my OC pkmn trainers. She was a character I played through Heart Gold with and had captured a shiny zubat and had that single Pokémon carry her through the whole game. Now they happen to be one of my favorite Pokémon characters of mine! I couldn't resist drawing a new icon of June the zubat for my icon here.

These days I mostly draw Pokémon for myself and make up Pokémon characters for story telling and role playing. So I'm not so much into anime, manga, cards, and very casual gamer at best. I'm very bad at battling..haha...

Oh wow, that's amazing @[member="LunarRabbitPikachu"] ! It's so amazing to see others who've been loving Pokémon for years the way we have!

Thank you for the tips, I'll be sure to make a thread in the Portfolio to show off all my Pokémon doodles and binary/pixel practice. Protip, I'm very bad at it.

And awesome! I actually joined in high hopes I'd be able to make friends and hopefully find some fellow Pokémon role players to give my poor characters something to do. I'm struggling to write on my own, so fan fiction will be a struggle for me but it'll make good practice if I wanted to dive into that pool here.

I'll be sure to let you know if I need any help! So far all the rules and FAQ threads have been very informative. I just need to get use to where everything is so I know where to chit chat. Thank you again!

 

@[member="Bionic Puppy"] Thank you so much! I really hope so too. To be honest I'd been really needing a break from the tumblr environment so this place looks like a great place to kick my shoes off and settle into. I can't wait to dive in!

 

@[member="Bloom"] I was worried I was writing too much and decided to cut myself off. When I get nervous I tend to chatter, heh... I don't know if anyone should be excited over my pixel skills, but I'm more than happy to try! Sketches and illustrations might be more my style. The Q&A section looks like a lot of fun, I might give that a go!

@[member="Thunder"] I wish I could take credit! I only put the sprites together into a banner. Which I am now thinking might be a liiiiittle too eye-glaring against this dark layout. Hmm, might need more fiddling on my part. I haven't learned how to do sprites that small just yet, those I had commissioned for me of my character Clover and use them to represent her on places like this! But hopefully if I keep practicing I can start making my own. c:

Hehehhehee! DON'T BE! Puns are my absolute favorite! Even the achingly bad ones. /side eyes Pokémon anime....

@[member="Nyanja"] Haha, a lot of people always give me funny looks when I tell them my favorite Pokémon is magikarp, usually paired with a rude comment... But I've always felt so bad for that poor little magikarp that James got in the show. Just poor thing, in the games I always went out of my way to buy the magikarp if I could! Even if they weren't going to be a strong team mate I just feel happy knowing I probably have a perfect little pond or lake side home where they can live and swim happily! And I bring them treats every time I'm home~ I guess I really relate to magikarp when I got sick and now use them as a positive influence. C: Shining both in scales and personality!

And thank you, it's called Toyhouse! It's pretty much just a character profile site. Very helpful to write up mini to super detailed info about your characters and host image references of them in case you want gift art or order commissions of them like I do! If anyone would like invite codes for Toyhouse, please just let me know. I have a TON to give.
