So, I posted a thread about this in the spambox, but maybe I should share it here.
So, everyone's using Phones and all of this sh*t right? or Maybe they don't have a laptop. I know alot of people use laka valar Lake Valor, so why not make a Mobile app? I know some may oppose, but I think it's a decent idea. I think I might like to see this version with perks such as flappy azelf :^). @[member="Sanctuary"] is an really amazing coder, so with Del, he could make it a great app. Hope it exists! ^_^

I don't understand the need for an App, it's expensive to put an App in the appstore, especially if the App is a free App. You also need to understand that the App needs to update with every new phone iteration, and so forth. It's a waste of time and money to make an App for this site, and honestly the mobile website works just fine.

    Right, so... let's begin.
    Quoting what [member=Zero Sifr] said:

He pretty much hit the nail on the head. If there was a mobile app for LV, it wouldn't be any better than what we currently have. It wouldn't be unique whatsoever, but for shits and giggles, let's say that I did end up making a mobile app for LV. I can only imagine that it would be worse than what we currently have. Why would I create an alternative that's worse than the original?
I'm also not sure if you guys need to be reminded, but all 5 themes on LV are fully responsive (a.k.a. "mobile friendly"). It has almost all of the exact same functionalities as the desktop version. Do you really need anything more than that? I wouldn't think so. Not to mention that fixing issues on the responsive versions isn't always easy or fun, so I can only imagine trying to fix an error a mobile application wouldn't be any better.

While we're on the topic of issues, let's talk about the current issues on Lake Valor. I'm gonna be 100% honest with you, there are quite a few things that need fixing. As of right now, I am the only Developer on the site, so I'm the only one available to fix errors around the site. But of course, my duty does not only revolve around fixing errors, oh no. Allow me to remind you that I'm also an Administrator on here as well. You can only imagine how much I have on my plate. If you're unsure, here's a general idea of things I do for/on LV:
    • Fix bugs
    • Plan new features
    • Actually attempt to code these new features (not all of them are possible, sadly)
    • Fix up and update old/existing features
    • Take care of suggestions
    • Plan + create events
    • Help out anyone who needs it
    • Look around and take care of rule breakers
    • Plan changes for the site (such as rule changes)
    • And much more
It may not look like much of a list, and of course I don't do all of these things by myself. However, I'm only human (believe it or not). Along with being human, I also have a life outside of LV, as should everyone else.
Coding something as simple as Status Edit feature we have took me days to figure out. Days. The Guidance of Valor guide took me weeks, and it's not even 100% complete yet. In theory, a mobile app would takes weeks or even months to make it fully functional. I can also guarantee it would never be fully functional either, considering all of the custom modifications LV has. Some things would just not work well on an app.
You may be wondering "well then why don't you just exclude those?", and that just brings us back to our first point.

    So there's that.

Ahh! I forgot to mention the most important part of all.

I am a coder, yes. I don't mean to sound cocky or arrogant, but I am good at what I do, yes. But let me tell you something that will blow your freakin' mind. Ready? Are you sure?! Here it goes: I actually don't have a single clue about app development! Unbelievable, right? I actually surprised myself with that one.
As a web developer (emphasis on web), I really have no idea how to code a mobile app. Even if I did know, I would only be able to create a mobile app for Android devices. Why? Because I only own Android devices. I've actually attempted to learn how to create Android apps in the past, but for some reason, my laptop couldn't run the program(s) necessary.
With that aside, if I were to create a mobile app for only Android devices, there would be members complaining and asking why there isn't an iOS app for LV. I'm honestly not sure how many LV members use or own any iOS devices, but I'll assume that a fair bunch do. Not to mention any future members that join the site and figure out about the (theoretical) Android only mobile app.
100% irrelevant to what I was just saying but still relevant, but I'm seriously confused on why you guys think that Del codes. This is something I will never understand. His group's name is "Designer", while mine is "Developer". Designers make art, Developers code. I'm not sure what part of that is confusing to you guys.

I apologize for anything that may have been worded poorly or just didn't make sense. I've had a headache every day for the past 2 weeks, and today is unfortunately not an exception, so my mind isn't 100% here at the moment. Regardless of that, this is my response with multiple reasons as to why this can't and won't happen.
