Has anyone else watched Madoka Magica? Its quickly become a new favorite of mine. I love all the characters one adorably little blank stare kitty especially. If you have seen it what did you think about it and are you excited for the movie to come out on April 8 (i believe)?

For those of you who haven't seen or heard of the anime I highly recommend it. Here's the description:
In the fictional city of Mitakihara, Japan, a middle school student named Madoka Kaname and her friend Sayaka Miki encounter a small, cat-like creature named Kyubey. It offers a contract in which a girl may have any wish granted in exchange for obtaining magical powers and being tasked with fighting against witches. Meanwhile, a transfer student and magical girl named Homura Akemi tries to stop Madoka from making the contract with Kyubey at all costs. Madoka and Sayaka then meet Mami Tomoe, an upperclassman at the same school who is also a magical girl and offers to bring them along on her witch hunts so that they may learn of the responsibilities that come with being a magical girl.

Yeah I know it sounds like every other magical girl anime out there, and that's what I thought it would be too. BUT it is a genre breaker, every episode gets darker and darker until you forget what genre this is supposed to be in. Its a true don't judge a book by its cover, and in this case opening/intro song. I implore you to give it a try, its currently on netflix and other websites and its only 12 episodes long.

I honestly love Madoka Magica. One of my all-time favorites. Mami's probably my favorite out of the five, but they're all great! It really does take you by surprise, and it's wonderful. The change of tone is quick and shocking, but strangely suiting.

What's funny is that literally no one saw it coming. Madoka Magica was advertised as an upbeat, child-friendly anime, despite the opening being a bit darker in tone at times.

When...uh....when it happened, no one knew it was coming. Which is incredible, and shockingly smart.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica is so great, really. Truly is a gerne breaker.

I now own Mami's ring, I placed my soul in it. The gem fell out... how am I not dead!!!

I loved PMMM. It's probably my third or fourth favourite (and wherever it is in it, Stiens;Gate is equal spot). The show has amazing characters, all of which have problems that you can understand. Inferiority complex, crappy past, the knowledge that you friend and love interest is going to be killed. I don't know how to describe it. The anime isn't only great because it was dark, it had an interesting storyline as well, great plot twists, so many things about it were great. I don't know what I can say about it.

I wish I had some figurines though. This one especially...

Oh gosh! I love this anime so much for being so different and the art is just amazing!! I love their concept that Magic Girls become corrupt with despair and hatch into Witches, the very foe Magic Girls are suppose to fight! And Kyubey just doesn't feel anything about the situation other than the fact that what they are doing is for the continued sustainment of the universe as they know it though this method!

@[member="shinygiratinaz"] is the one who got me into Madoka Magica, to my initial reluctance. About four episodes in when... it happened, I realized the show was more than it seemed to be at first glance. I was hooked. I fell in love with the intelligent writing and constant symbolism. I usually dislike anime, but Madoka Magica made me reconsider anime as a whole. It was good enough that it shifted my opinion on the entire genre.

I watched Madoka some years ago after a friend's recommendation and it was way, way more depressing than I imagined. The art style is so cute with plenty of adorable-looking characters who still end up being much different than you'd assume at first glance (looking at you, Kyubey) but it sure does make your mind go crazy later into the series. I'm.. kind of disappointed in the movies, actually, especially the latest one since it's so out-of-character for Homura and forced to milk money but I still love the series itself. What does everyone else think of the movies? I'm curious if I'm the only one who feels that way here.

Well its hard to judge against he first 2 as they are just the series condensed down. But I haven't seen the third one yet, my friend and I are waiting for the english dub next month. The trailer seems good though, and we are really looking forward to it. Is it really that much different? And if it is, is it worth the watch?

I watched it when I was new a few years ago, and the fact that it's still popular is very surprising to me.

It was good, but I didn't think it was worth such an extreme amount of hype. I mean, it blew my mind when I watched it, but I'm not the type of person who can hype over a 13 episode series for five years after it ends.

I did start to watch the movies a few months ago, though, and I still really enjoyed it. I need to watch the final Rebellion movie, because I've heard it's way more awesome than the ending of the original anime series.

May I have a contract?I lost myself with this anime, and I'll never make a contract with a Kyubey now. I thought that thing was loveable! I was so wrong.

Well its not entirely his fault. To him everything that went on was just practical. Emotion made no sense to him. But yeah was a shocker to say the least

On my freaking Arceus, I love Madoka Magica! It is one of my favorite animes! Despite it taking my feels, grounding them under a spiked steamroller then pouring lemon juice and rubbing salt in them.
My sister got me hooked and after the 3rd episode I wanted to quit, but I couldn't. I love it, I hate Kyubey (i have a plush backpack of Kyubey, bought for the sole purpose of punching its oversized face.)
