    Mafia V1 - Descent

The world has been torn apart by war. Most people on Earth have died from disease spread from the nuclear war between America and Korea. Some survivors question their purpose to survive this long, but other groups decide to try and survive as long as they can. They developed clans, which then turned into major civilizations. These civilizations were very isolated from the rest of the world; some civilizations with thousands of people restricted their boundaries to a single square mile. Without a doubt, the human race had saved itself, but what was to happen if two civilizations met?

The year was 14NS (Nuclear Survival), and the isolation was all about to change. A select group of elite soldiers from a clan known as Forsane decided that they were going to expand their territory. They had little clues that they were about to walk into another clan: Kanamo. They had no idea they were trespassing, and they were about to find out the hard way...

Welcome to the first Lake Valor Mafia game! This was approved by Satix, and is going to be a fun ride!

    MAFIA EXPLANATION:

Mafia is a game where you are randomly assigned a role that only you know. You are also allied with other people and given an objective that must be carried out to win. There are usually two factions, the "town" and the "mafia." The town always outnumbers the mafia at the beginning of the game.

There are two phases in the game, day and night. During the day, everyone can participate in discussion, and you can also vote to eliminate a player. If the majority of everyone left in the game vote for a person, that person is eliminated and the day ends. During the night phase, the mafia chat with each other to select a target player to eliminate from the game. Players who are eliminated are considered "dead," have their role revealed to everyone, and cannot participate further. The town wins when all mafia players are eliminated. Conversely, the mafia wins if they outnumber the town.

The best part about Mafia is the various roles you can become. Typical roles include the sheriff and doctor, but there are lots of other ones with various functions. Most of them have an ability that works only at night.

Lastly, you may have to lie in order to conceal your role, especially if you are mafia or an anti-town role.

    Mafia Obligations
These are a few questions you should ask yourself before you sign up for this game.

    - Am I decently intelligent?
Mafia is definitely a game for masterminds, so if you aren't able to understand every role at once, it's recommended you don't sign up and wait until the next version, and read through this game.

-Am I able to stay active?
This is a game that will last 2 or more months. You should have the ability to stay active this whole time in order to sign up. Otherwise, it's recommended to sign up as a reserve.

    MAFIA RULES:
1.) Quoting PM's is a big no no. This will likely end up in a modkill.
2.) Please do not edit posts. While it is a clever way to make codes, it is still confusing if you edit something to actually be helpful.
3.) DO NOT TALK ABOUT MAFIA OUTSIDE OF MAFIA. THIS WILL END AS A REPLACEMENT/MODKILL ON BOTH THE OFFENDER AND THE VICTIM, SO NOBODY WINS IN THIS SITUATION.

    POSSIBLE ROLES:

    Town

    Citizen

The Citizen gets no night abilities, but is the most common Town role in the game. Every game usally contains 20-25% Citizens.

    Sheriff

The Sheriff can choose someone alive to investigate each night. They will get the following results:
-If the person is Town (but not a Cult Recruit), Benign Neutral, or Godfather, they will be unsuspicious.

-If the person is Mafia but not Godfather, you will learn they are a member of the Mafia, but not which Mafia or which role.
-If the person is Evil Neutral, you will learn their exact role.
-If the person is a Town Cult Recruit, you will learn that they are part of the Cult, but not their role.
If the person is framed as a Mafia Role, they will appear to be Mafia.
The person who is investigated is not notified.

    Investigator

The Investigator can choose someone alive to investigate each night other than themself. They will get a group of possible roles for that person, one of which is the real role. These are the groups:

    Citizen/Godfather/Survivor/Student/Twin (when both are alive)
    Sheriff/Investigator/Consigliere/Executioner
    Jailor/JoaT/Drug Dealer/Serial Killer
    Bodyguard/Dancer/Bus Driver/Kidnapper
    Vigilante/Veteran/Mafioso/Spree Killer/Twin (when one dies)
    Mayor/Mason Leader/Cult Leader/Blackmailer
    Doctor/Coroner/Mortician/Janitor/Graverobber
    Tracker/Watcher/Thief/Framer/
    Commuter/Amnesiac/Arsonist
    Mason/Spy/Witch

If the person is framed as a Mafia Role, they will appear as the group that Mafia role is in instead of their actual group.
The person who is investigated is not notified.

    Doctor

The Doctor can choose someone alive to save at night other than themself. If that person is attacked by a Mafia Member, Vigilante, Serial Killer, or Spree Killer, they will be saved, regardless of faction. If the target is attacked more than once, they will be saved if at least as many Doctors who heal the person as people attack them. However, the Doctor does not save the following:

    -Arsonist attacks
-Bodyguards who successfully protect against an attack
    -Jailor executions

In addition, the Doctor can prevent Cult recruitment, but will prioritize saving the target's life and cannot carry out both functions simultaneously. (e.g. if the person being saved is being recruited into the Cult that same night, the recruit will fail. If the person is attacked by one or more people and recruited into the cult, if there is an equal number of doctors healing as attackers, the person will be healed, but become a cult member. If there is at least one more doctor healing than people attacking, they will be healed and the recruit will fail.)

The Doctor and target are notified if a save is successful (there must be an attack and/or a Cult recruit). If the target is saved from death but is successfully recruited, the Doctor is not notified about the Cult. If multiple Doctors are present, they obtain all information gathered from a successful save under the above rules.

    Bodyguard

The Bodyguard can choose someone alive to guard at night other than themself. If that person is attacked by a Mafia Member, Vigilante, or Serial Killer (but not the Arsonist) or falls prey to a Spree Killer that night, they will be saved, regardless of faction, but the Bodyguard and the person who killed them will die. The killer's original target is notified that he was protected by a Bodyguard. The Bodyguard bypasses any immunity the killer may have (including vests).

    Vigilante

The Vigilante can choose someone alive to kill at night. The Vigilante may only attack twice, even if the targets survive. The Vigilante may not attack on Night 1.

    Mason Leader

The Mason Leader can choose someone alive to recruit at night other than themself. If they are a Citizen and not a Cult Member, they will be converted to a Mason. If they are a Cult Member, including the Leader, they will die. If they are neither, the recruit will fail and the Mason Leader will be notified.

If the Mason Leader dies, the first Mason recruited (or if not the original Mason Leader, the Mason recruited after them) will become the new Mason Leader, unless there are no Masons remaining.

The game starts with no Masons.

The Mason Leader and all Masons share a chat they can use at night.
There is never more than one Mason Leader at the beginning of the game.

    Mayor

The Mayor can choose to reveal themself during the day, at which point an announcement will be made saying who the person is a Mayor. The revealed Mayor has their lynch and skip day votes count for 4, but the number of votes required for a lynch or skip day remain the same as normal.
There is never more than one Mayor at the beginning of the game.

    Dancer

The Dancer can choose someone at night to roleblock. If this person is not the Serial Killer, an Amnesiac choosing a role, a Godfather, or another Dancer, their night action will not be executed. If the person is the Serial Killer, the Serial Killer will kill the Dancer instead of their original target, both are notified, and it will be revealed the next day that the Dancer was killed by the Serial Killer.

People who are roleblocked will be notified that they were roleblocked, but not by whom. Any role that has limited uses (ex. Vigilante, Jack-of-all-Trades) will not use up an action if roleblocked. If the target is immune to roleblocking, both the Dancer and the target are notified. Although the Dancer moves before the Witch and Bus Driver/Kidnapper in the Order of Operations, they can still be affected by the actions of those roles.

    Veteran

The Veteran may choose to go on alert at night. If they do so, any person who targets them other than the Watcher will be killed, they will be notified they were killed by the Veteran, and it will be revealed the next day that each of those people died as such. The Veteran's attacks pierce immunity. A Veteran may only go on alert three times.

    Tracker

The Tracker may choose someone alive to follow at night other than themself. They will be notified of every person their target visited, if any, but not what actions were taken.

The person who is tracked and the people they visit are not notified.

    Watcher

The Watcher may choose someone alive to watch at night other than themself. They will be notified of every person who visited their target (except for the Godfather), if any, but not actions were taken. The Watcher will be notified of the actions of any role that acts before the Watcher sets up (such as Bus Driver and Dancer).

The person who is watched and the people who are spotted are not notified.

    Spy

The Spy may choose to spy on the Mafia at night. They will be notified of two targets of the Mafia (not just kills, targets of any role). The Spy does not choose which Mafia to spy on, and the targets can be from either Mafia or one from each Mafia. A Spy may only spy three times.

    Coroner

The Coroner can choose someone dead at the beginning of the night to examine at night. They will be notified of every action that person performed while alive and who the targets were, as well as their role, even if they were cleaned by the Janitor. If a Graverobber tries to steal that person's ability the same night, they will fail, and the Coroner will be notified.

    Mortician

The Mortician can choose someone dead at the beginning of the night to examine at night. They will be notified of every action performed on that person while they were alive, but not who performed the actions, as well as their role, even if they were cleaned by the Janitor. If a Graverobber tries to steal that person's ability the same night, they will fail, and the Mortician will be notified.

    Jailer

The Jailer can choose someone alive other than themselves to jail during the day. That night, the Jailer and that person will share a night chat (the Jailer will be anonymous). The target will not be able to perform night actions or have other night actions performed on them that night (ex. if an arsonist burns everyone who has doused and the jailed target was doused, they will not die and will remain doused the next day). If a lynch did not occur during the day, the Jailer may choose to execute the target at any point. Once a Jailer has executed two times, that Jailer may no longer execute. If a Witch controls the Jailer, the target will be automatically executed at the end of the night, even if the Jailer has already executed twice.
The Jailer is not seen as visiting the person they jail by Trackers or Watchers.

    Bus Driver

The Bus Driver can choose two living people to swap at night other than themselves. All night actions performed after the bussing will instead be performed on the other target. The people who are bussed do not have their own night actions redirected unless they target someone else who was bussed. If more than one bussing takes place with some targets identical and some not, they will be performed in a random order. If a person targets someone bussed and it ends up redirected to them, they will be notified that they killed themself via bussing and the next day it will be revealed as such. If a Witch tries to force a Bus Driver to target someone, the first target the list will be bussed with the target the Witch forced them to target.

People who are bussed will be notified that they were bussed, but not by whom or whom they were bussed with.

    Jack-of-all-Trades

The Jack-of-all-Trades can choose someone living other than themself to save, investigate, roleblock, track, watch, or kill. The saving works exactly as if done by the Doctor, the investigating exactly as if done by the Investigator, the roleblocking exactly as if done by the Dancer, the tracking exactly as if done by the Tracker, the watching exactly as if done by the Watcher, and the killing exactly as if done by the Vigilante, including where the action falls in Order of Operations. A Jack-of-all-Trades may carry out one of each different night action.

    Commuter

The Commuter may choose to leave the Town at night, and if they do they cannot targeted by anyone except the Jailor (who will jail them). If a Commuter does this, that Commuter may not do it the next night, unless jailed the same night when trying to commute.
Anyone targeting a Commuter who has left town will receive a notification saying that the target could not be found. In this scenario, roles with limited uses of their abilities will not use up one action. The Commuter is not notified of any actions directed towards them while commuting.

    Mafia

IMPORTANT NOTE: All mafia roles may be sent out to kill, in which they forfeit their normal night action, if any. However, no more than one member of a mafia may be sent to kill each night. Regardless of which role performs the kill, it will be revealed that the target was killed by the mafia, if the kill is successful.

    Godfather

The Godfather decides what actions the members of the Mafia they lead will take if they disagree. If the Godfather dies, each Mafia decides individually, though they can still use the Mafia night chat. The Godfather cannot be detected by the Watcher, Coroner or Mortician, but they can be detected by the Tracker. They can also not be killed at night except by the Arsonist, Jailor, Veteran, or Bodyguard, and cannot be roleblocked.
There is always exactly one Godfather per Mafia at the beginning of the game.
    Mafioso
An ordinary pre-Curse member. Your name will be revealed when you die.
The Mafioso has no special night abilities to carry out other than killing.

    Consigliere

The Consigliere can choose someone alive to investigate each night other than themselves. He or she will get a group of possible roles for that person, one of which is the real role. These are the groups:

    Citizen/Godfather/Survivor/Student/Twin (when both are alive)
    Sheriff/Investigator/Consigliere/Executioner
    Jailor/JoaT/Drug Dealer/Serial Killer
    Bodyguard/Dancer/Bus Driver/Kidnapper
    Vigilante/Veteran/Mafioso/Spree Killer/Twin (when one dies)
    Mayor/Mason Leader/Cult Leader/Blackmailer
    Doctor/Coroner/Mortician/Janitor/Graverobber
    Tracker/Watcher/Thief/Framer
    Commuter/Amnesiac/Arsonist
    Mason/Spy/Witch
If the person is framed as a Mafia Role, they will appear as the group that Mafia role is in.
The person who is investigated is not notified.

If the Godfather dies, the Consigliere will become the new Godfather. There is never more than one Consigliere per Mafia at the beginning of the game. A Graverobber can still rob this role if it already exists in the Mafia.

    Framer

The Framer can choose someone alive to frame as any Mafia role (except Godfather) that night, and that role will be reflected in the Sheriff's, Investigator's, and/or Consigliere's results should they investigate that person in the future. The Coroner's and Mortician's results will not be affected.

The target is not notified that they are framed. The effect lasts for one night.

    Janitor

The Janitor may choose to clean someone alive that night, even if they are not attacked by that Mafia that night. If that person dies that night, then their role and faction are not shown the next day. The Coroner and Mortician still receive the correct role and faction in the future. The Janitor receives the role and faction of the person that he or she cleaned and has two uses of his or her ability.

    Drug Dealer

The Drug Dealer may deal someone alive at night as "attacked and healed," "bussed," "witched," "thieved" or "roleblocked". That person will be notified of this fake action. This effect stacks with any actual night action results performed on the target (ex. if the target is dealt "bussed" and is actually bussed, the target receives two notifications).

    Dancer

The Dancer can choose someone at night to roleblock. If this person is not the Serial Killer, an Amnesiac choosing a role, a Godfather, or another Dancer, their night action will not be executed. If the person is the Serial Killer, the Serial Killer will kill the Dancer instead of their original target, the Dancer and the Serial Killer will be notified of this, and it will be revealed the next day that the Dancer was killed by the Serial Killer.

If the Dancer is killing instead of roleblocking, their action can be blocked by another Dancer.

    Kidnapper

The Kidnapper can choose two living people to swap at night other than themself. All night actions performed after the bussing will instead be performed on the other target. The people who are bussed do not have their own night actions redirected unless they target someone else who was bussed. If more than one bussing takes place with some targets identical and some not, they will be performed in a random order. If an even number of busses on the same two people occur, they will fail. If a person targets someone bussed and it ends up redirected to them, they will be notified that they killed themself via bussing and the next day it will be revealed that they killed themself via bussing. If a Witch tries to force a Bus Driver to target someone, the first target the list will be bussed with the target the Witch forced them to target.

People who are bussed will be notified that they were bussed, but not by whom or whom they were bussed with.

The Mafia faction bussing the target cannot target their bussed targets with any other moves. A Graverobber can still rob this role if it already exists in the Mafia.

    Thief

Everybody hates thieves. Always coming in and stealing your swag. Once a night, the thief can pick one target and visit them. If they have a night role, they will steal a use of that night role. If the night role they stole was limited, then the target they stole from will lose a use of their role. The thief must use up the role they stole before they can steal again. The thief can carry out the night's kill instead of thieving or using their role (but if they elect to do this, they will LOSE their stolen use).

    - They cannot steal two nights in a row.
    - Your target is notified that they have been stolen from.
    - In the case in which an ability like an investigation is stolen (i.e Sheriff, Investigator, Consigliere and JOTA), the Thief is not notified what sort of investigation it is until they use it. Thus helping to preserve the identity of the person they stole from. - - If the JOTA is targeted, then I'll RNG which role is stolen.
    - If the Graverobber is targeted, the Thief will steal a use of the ability they have Graverobbed. If there is no ability, nothing will be stolen.
    - The Thief cannot steal an additional kill by targeting a Mafioso or Godfather, as these are not specific night actions. The only way for a Thief to steal an additional kill is to steal from a role such as Vigilante
    - Mason Leader/Mayor/Mafioso/Godfather/Cult Leader/Spree Killer/Arsonist/Amnesiac/Student/Ghost cannot be stolen from. In the case of the Mayor, Mafioso, Godfather and Ghost, they receive a notification that they have been stolen from, but haven't lost anything. The Thief will receive a notification as if they had stolen from a Citizen. For the other roles (Mason Leader, Cult Leader, Spree Killer, Arsonist, Amnesiac and Student) they will not receive a notification and the Thief will be informed that they have failed.
    - Failing to steal (either by hitting one of the above or a Citizen) will still trigger the cooldown.

    Graverobber

The Graverobber can choose to graverob someone dead at the beginning of the night and receive two uses their ability. Once you have used an ability twice, you can no longer use it. You hold as many different abilities at once as you want. You cannot graverob and use an ability in the same night, and you may not graverob the same person twice. All graverobbed actions work exactly as they do for their normal roles.
The Graverobber cannot graverob the following roles: Citizen, Mason Leader, Mason, Mayor, Jailor, Jack-of-all-Trades, Godfather, and all neutrals except Witch.

If using the Spy ability, you may receive your own team's actions.
If using the Dancer ability, you can be roleblocked yourself.
If using the Bodyguard ability, you will still die and kill the killer if your target was attacked.
If using the Bus Driver ability, the limitations of the Kidnapper role apply.

    Blackmailer

The Blackmailer can choose someone to blackmail at night. That person will not be able to speak the following day, except to cast a lynch or skip day vote. The Blackmailer has 3 uses of their ability.

    Cloaker

The Cloaker has the choice to turn the mafia's kill into a cloaked kill. A cloaked kill will show up as any of the following roles upon death:

    Jailer
    Mason Leader
    Arsonist
    Serial Killer
    Spree Killer
    Vigilante
    Bodyguard
    Veteran
    Bus Driver
    Kidnapper
Alternate Mafia (For games with 2 mafia factions)

The Cloaker's ability may be used twice, and only on the mafia's kill.

    Neutral

    Benign Neutrals

    Executioner

The Executioner is given a target at the beginning of the game. The target may or may not be town-aligned.

In order for the Executioner to win, their target must be lynched before the end of the game. If the target is killed at night, the Executioner will become a Survivor with no vests available.

    Survivor

The Survivor may choose to use a vest at night, which will make them immune to being killed (except by roles such as Veteran) that night. The Survivor has three vests to use.
In order for the Survivor to win, they must be alive at the end of the game.

    Amnesiac

On any night during the game, the Amnesiac may choose the role of a dead person other than Godfather, Mayor, Mason Leader, Cult Leader, or another Amnesiac to become. This decision cannot be roleblocked. The next day, it will be revealed that the Amnesiac took that role, but not the Amnesiac's identity.
In order for the Amnesiac to win, they must survive until the end of the game, or, if they choose a role, satisfy the win conditions of that role.

    Student

On any night during the game, the Student may choose a person as a mentor. If that person dies that night or is a Godfather, Mayor, Mason Leader, or Cult Leader, the decision will fail. Upon success, you will gain access to a night chat with that person the following night, and, if they die, you will assume their role.
In order for the Student to win, they must survive until the end, or, if they choose a mentor, satisfy the win condition of their mentor's role.

In the case that a Student selects a mentor that already has a night chat of his own (i.e. is Mafia, Cult, Mason,or has another Student), the Student may not directly participate in those night chats until his mentor is dead. In the case of a mentor with multiple Students, all Students will assume their mentor's role upon the mentor's death.

    Evil Neutrals

    Witch

The Witch may choose someone alive to witch and anyone alive (including themselves or themself) for them to visit, and that person will be forced to perform their night action on that person, if they have a night action and at least one use of that night action left. If the Bus Driver is witched, they will swap the first person they listed to swap with the target you gave them. If a person kills themselves because a witch forced them to target themself, they will be notified that they killed themself via witching and the next day it will be revealed as a regular kill from that person's faction.
The person who is witched is notified that they were witched.
In order for the Witch to win, the Witch must survive and the Town must lose.

    Cult Leader

The Cult Leader can choose someone to recruit into the cult each night. If the person is a Mafia member, Amnesiac, Student, Arsonist, Serial Killer, or Spree Killer, the recruiting will fail, and if the person is a Mason or the Mason Leader, the recruiting will fail and the Mason Member will learn your identity. Otherwise, they will become a cult member, but retain their role (except for their win condition) and cannot recruit members into the cult themselves. If the Cult Leader dies, half of the remaining Cult Members (rounded up) will suicide that night.
In order for the Cult Leader or anyone who has become a member of the cult to win, there must be more cult members than all Mafia members and Townspeople combined. The Cult Leader can win even if they die and so can the cult members who suicide, so long as there are cult members remaining who survive until there are more of them than all Mafia members and Townspeople combined, though the Cult Leader will not be replaced and the cannot recruit any more members.

Benign neutrals that can be recruited and Witch retain their roles, but their win conditions are changed to match that of the Cult Leader. Other rulings:

-Executioner does not have to have their target lynched before winning.

-Survivor does not have to survive to win.

-Witch must now see any killing evil neutrals and all mafia dead before they can win.

    Serial Killer

The Serial Killer may choose someone to kill at night. That person will die, they will be notified they were attacked, and it will be revealed the next day that the person was killed as such. The Serial Killer has an autovest. If a Dancer roleblocks the Serial Killer, the Serial Killer will kill the Dancer instead of their original target.
In order for the Serial Killer to win, they must be the last person left alive.

    Arsonist

The Arsonist can choose to either douse one person in gasoline, burn all people who are doused, or do nothing every night. If the Arsonist decides to burn, all doused people will die. People who are doused are not aware of it. People who are burned cannot be saved by night immunities, Doctors, or Bodyguards.

Due to the actions of a Witch or Bus Driver/Kidnapper, the Arsonist may end up dousing themself. In this situation, they have the option to undouse themself; but this is only available if they perform no other action that night. If they remain doused whilst setting everybody alight, they will kill themself in the process

The Arsonist has one autovest, and is seen as visiting every target he burns when doing so.
In order for the Arsonist to win, they must be the last person left alive.

    Spree Killer

The Spree Killer can choose someone to set up on at night. Everyone who visits the person who is set up on (but not the person themselves, unless that person is forced to visit himself through Bus Driver, etc.) except for the Watcher will be killed, they will be notified they were attacked, and it will be revealed the next day that they were killed by the Spree Killer. The Spree Killer has no autovest.

In order for the Spree Killer to win, they must be the last person left alive.

    Other Notes:

    Tie Breakers

In the case of two people of different alignments remaining, the victory will be determined as follows:

Spree Killer > Arsonist > Serial Killer > Mafia > Cult > Witch > Town

Important game notes regarding night action results:

The order in which notifications are given will be based on the Order of Operations.

If you attack a role with immunity of any sort (vests, being jailed, Godfather, etc.) you will receive a notification that the target survived. However, if the target was saved by a Doctor, you will not be notified as to whether your kill was successful.

Roles that perform an action upon themselves (such as Survivor using a vest) are not seen as visiting anyone.

    You know I'm in. :3

PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME CITIZEN AGAIN! D:

EDIT: You might want to say that you can edit your post before the game actually starts. When the game starts, editing is bad, but if the game hasn't started, then it would be double-posting.

I'm currently working on an off-site forum that will be used for the night chats (Jailer, Masons, Cult, Student, and Mafia), which will always be in play because anything can happen!

I should have it finished within the hour, hopefully.

Edit: Putting the offsite forum on the first post under the roles.

Remember to sign up for the offsite forum before this starts, or you'll likely be placed as a reserve!

I created a Mafia chatroom for this (on the Arrowchat), so that should make communication easier.

Is it possible that you can set certain people to see these? It could be easily used as a mafia chat, but the Day Phase usually takes place posting in the forum, and with the offsite, I don't think it's necessary, unless the mafia wants a quick way of chatting. Although it is a pretty nifty idea. 8D

If you go on someone's profile, it will say what they are viewing. It might say, "Currently viewing Arrowchat," or something like that, so then you might be able to have a talk with them about not going into the Arrowchat if the do go on it.

Sorry if that didn't make any sense. =P

Oh boy, there are more than 5 people! I actually somewhat didn't expect that, but then again, sign ups go pretty slow the first time around.

If we can get around 10-12 people, we should be able to start just fine.
