A unique genre that has taken many creative twists since the end of 2011-2012. I'm really fond of Daybreak Illusion and the like right now, what about you? What do you find most intriguing about this genre? Is there anything you'd like to see done that hasn't been tried?
I enjoy Magical Girl anime, it isn't my favorite but it can be fun to watch. I have never sat through an entire series, though, it can be a bit much for me. I enjoy the emotions they can pull and the strong female characters, though many times they can be a bit formulaic about who gets which power. I would see more of a magical girl and magic boy tie-ins, a duo over a single or a group of one. Though there are some already out there I would love to see more of it since they can bounce off each other so well
I've enjoyed the Magical Girl genre, especially Puella Magi Madoka Magica which started out as an atypical magical girl anime until you reach episode 3 where the whole tone of the show changes. I love its style and its twists c: I've never heard of Daybreak Illusion but I checked out the trailer and I'll definitely be checking it out! Did you know that there's an anime that took the Magical Girl genre and made a guy a magical girl? [Well, there's two that I know of but I didn't really enjoy Kampfer (it involves the dude changing into a girl but that wasn't why I didn't like it)] It's called Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? It focuses on this guy who was murdered, resurrected and accidentally absorbs another Magical Girl's powers and transforms into her magic girl form [without changing gender] and it's hilarious from what I've seen.
