I'm ashamed of myself for not making this thread untill now xD

Anyway, as most of you might already know, my username isn't what it is just because I like it. It's because I have been praticing shotokan karate for almost 10 years :D I currently have a 2nd degree brown belt (which is only 2 degrees lower than the black belt).

So I'd like to know who else here has praticed/practices martial arts. Do/did you like it? Which degree do you have? Let me know :D

I'm actually a first degree black belt but it's been so long since I've taken Karate. I became a black belt in 2007 and I had 3 stripes before I stopped. I might consider going back into Karate.

I have not studied any martial arts, but I would like to study kendo. I don't know what it is about kendo, but I really want to try it. I would say that my love for the sort came for an anime (Bamboo Blade), but I have actually researched into it more and it seems like a really cool form of swordplay/martial art.

Well... I've practiced two martial arts. One being Tae Kwon Do, to which I have a black belt (Black 1) and the second being Thai Boxing (Muay Thai). I've finished 2 courses out of 4 in Thai boxing; when you finish all 4 courses and take tests, you can become a teacher. But it is hard. To be honest, I don't really enjoy them o.O , they require so much hard work and fitness (To which I'm not so dedicated at doing).

I used to do tae-kwon-doe when I was younger. I started when I was 8 and stopped when I was 17 when I got a job and didn't have time to go to the classes anymore. During that time, I made it to a 1st degree blackbelt and could've had my 2nd degree had a stayed for just a couple of more months. I certainly don't regret it as it taught me discipline and ways to defend myself in case the need arose. I was a really short and dorky kid so this was a necessity because I was an easy target for bullying.

I've practiced Taekwondo where I was a Green Belt. I stopped going when they said I had to break blocks of wood with my feet to get the next belt up,lol I was not having it {was 11}. After that I've practiced Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Tai Chi where I studied the Yang form.

I had been a taekwondo practitioner for around eight years and I'm at a rank that I'm rather satisfied with, black belt. However I stopped pursuing higher levels for taekwondo due to other commitments.

I have practiced thai-kickboxing for a few years in the past. I still wish that I wouldn't have stopped back then... I was pretty good at it, and it was a ton of fun as well!

I've practiced Taekwondo for over 14 years now, and even though I don't go to a dojo anymore, it's still a lot of fun. I was almost at 3rd Degree Black Belt when I left, and I taught classes for a little over a year after I got my 2nd Degree rank. I didn't like teaching much, and my schedule got in the way of classes towards the end, so I stopped going. I still enjoy practicing it at home, though!

It has helped me out immensely over the years in dealing with bullies and other such people. I do have an amusing story to share about one such person, haha. Back in 10th Grade, I had gotten my first Black Belt a little while ago, and this guy who picked on me a lot was doing a project on medieval weaponry for our English class. For one part he wanted to have a duel with wooden swords with someone, and of course he picked me. What he didn't know is that in Taekwondo, we learn how to use swords and have to do a ton of forms with them in order to earn higher ranks. I kicked his sorry ass twice, and we actually ended up becoming friends, haha.

Ooh, there are more people who do or did martial arts here than I thought!

Anyways, I've been attending karate/kickboxing classes for about four months now. Naturally since it's only been some months my belt rank is low but that doesn't bother me as it's a great form of exercise, which is what I'm there for. I'm thin but wasn't happy with my lifestyle so I decided to make a change. It's exhausting but very worthwhile in the end. I've met some awesome people. :')

I used to practice Teakwondo when I was younger, but I've stopped for quite some time now to make way for other life priorities. My school held Teakwondo classes as part of after-school extracurricular activities and I have gotten my first-degree Black Belt before discontinuing. My skills have unfortunately deteriorated over the years due to non-practice but I know enough to defend myself in times of need.

I know a bit of Karate. I took one TaeKwonDo class but I failed at it and never went again. XD

I'm not big on learning anything, but my older brother is amazing at whatever he does (I don't want to butcher the name).

I'm not much of a martial arts kind of guy. I did learn Taekwondo for a few years when I was little, but I got frustrated with how I was only learning defensive stuff. Every fight I've been in has required me to go on the offensive in order to win, so learning how to fight defensively didn't help at all. I stopped taking classes but continued training in my own time and in my own way. Years later, I can now handle myself in a fight extremely well.

I've never taken any sort of Martial Arts, but honestly, I would love to. Not only would it perhaps give me some idea on how to protect myself, but perhaps have a little more self-confidence.

Never interested me honestly, but I admire people that can! Maybe I should try it someday just to do it.

I did Jiu Jitsu for a while when I was younger but ended up quitting it when I bust a young boy's lip :S I felt really bad for it, ahaha;; There was a girl there that was awful to me anyway so it wasn't that big of a loss to me.
I'd like to take up martial arts again though! I can't remember much of what I learned since this was around 8 years so learning again would be beneficial. Some sort of regular exercise would be good, hmmhmm
