So, does everyone here know who Junichi Masuda is? Well, if you're on a Pokémon forum, chances are you do. Junichi Masuda, who was born today (January 12) 48 years ago in 1968, is probably the biggest and most important member of the GameFreak staff and Pokémon team, behind only the great Satoshi Tajiri. Junichi Masuda is the composer for the Pokémon games, dating all the way back to Pokémon Red and Green, whwre he was the sole composer. Then, in Gold and Silver, he became a sub-director and since Crystal as co-directed every main series Pokémon game to date. Masuda has also hidden many secrets within the games, such as nods to other titles he's composed for, special Diamond Dust on his birthday (Hey... that's today!!) and, of course, the Masuda Method.

What are your favourite Masuda-related memories? Is there a song in particular that you can't imagine not having? Maybe you got your favourite shiny thanks to him? Or even the littler things like the Diamond Dust, a cute but elusive Easter Egg that only appears on special occasions, like this one.

Personally, I'd like to thank him for all he's done regarding Pokémon. Pokémon has some of the best music in gaming, ever (Come on, he made Zinnia's theme! WITH HIS OWN FINGERS!!!), and he makes it easier for Pokémon fans to get shinies everyday just to relay the message of global connections and making friends all over the world through Pokémon.

Here's to Masuda, 48 years young. I'll be hatching eggs and dancing in glittery dust in your honour.

Ahh, Diamond Dust. That really was the good part of DPPT. Seriously though, Masuda, everything you've done is amazing and I hope that you'll continue to surprise and shock us throughout the next Pokémon games. Here's to you, Junichi Masuda, one of the best things to ever happen to Pokémon!

Considering it's just only just turned 12 Jan here, it's only appropriate I reply now. Mr. Masuda and Go Ichinose have composed countless beautiful soundtracks for the Pokémon games and anime and he's also done a fantastic job on directing most of the 3rd generation games, BW1 and more recently XY. Honestly, aside from BW1 (I prefer the sequels) these are all my favorite games of the entire series. The thing I remember him most for though, was the time he appeared on the official Pokemon channel to reveal Honedge and all the times he appeared on Pokémon Smash to make other announcements as well. Pokémon Smash was THE shit back then, they were the hypest thing. Anyway, I hope he has a wonderful birthday and may continue to put in more awesome work over the years :3

Mr. Masuda is a really cool guy and I love all of the little things he added to Pokémon like the Masuda Method because despite being small they add so much to the game. I saw Masuda in real life at Pokémon Worlds so that was pretty cool.

Honestly, to me the man is a god of gaming. Like midas whatever he touches turns to gold! All I can say is the gods blessed the broken rode that led him straight to us and in return he blessed many people with his music and everything else he did with gaming! Domo Arigato Mr. Masuda!
