Mega Evolutions

I think that since they are called Pocket Monsters, they are going to actually do something with that name and start on actual monster Pokémon. The Absol just looks hideous and needs to be changed, the Ampharos being Electric/Dragon in it's Mega form is just too much jump of power imo. The Blaziken, Mawile, and Lucario are perfectly fine as they are great Pokémon and making them even better is just better. If they make a Mega Form of Infernape, I'll be in heaven . The Mewtwo's new forme is possibly going to be a mega form i guess. My guess is in the future before X and Y come, is that the starters will all have their own Mega form, but that's my opinion/guess.

 

I think they look cool but at the same time it just feels weird. I'm also glad you get them through evolution though because I'm sick of forms.

 

I think they are freaking awesome especially since they made a mega me (Blaiken)! They are actually mega evolutions not forms, and it was said that the very first event Pokémon will be a torchic holding the item "blaziken knight" that will allow it to evolve into a mega blaziken.
I wonder why they chose to make or show us these mega evolutions though.

 

I agree. It would've been really cool for us to discover it for ourselves but instead they revealed it early. I do like most of the Mega Evolutions though. Hopefully, they can come up with specific names for each Mega Evolution so that it's not just "MegaAbsol" and "MegaAmpharos" etc. I just wonder what information they will release that can better this.

 

It seems they get to the "Mega" form through evolution, but is it actually evolution? I wonder how they'll "evolve" into their mega forms?

Also, is every final evolution Pokémon getting a "mega evolution"? Or is it random? Because they gave it to already very strong Pokémon like Blaziken and Lucario, but also gave it to underpowered Pokémon (Mawile and Ampharos). So it seems essentially random if not all final evolutions get it.

And finally, what will this mean for the Metagame? Will there be a whole new tier above ubers called "Mega"? Or just something better than ubers? Because I can't see Blaziken really being nerfed, as it will probably be super effective or neutral to fairy (I don't remember if that was confirmed yet) so if anything I feel like it will be even sronger. And then with a mega form?? There would have to be something even higher than ubers, which is crazy...

So many questions *-* I can already tell this game will be much more exciting than 5th gen was. Looking forward to it~

 

Thats a really good point, they should come up with better names. Maybe if the names are cool enough I wont have to nickname my mega Blaziken!

I think if they have enough mega Pokémon, they will have their own tier, because they seem way too over-powered.

 

So... Mega level digi--er, Pokémon. Interesting.
As for the Pokémon themselves, I'll like them aslong as their names dont all start with 'mega'.
But this is very Digimon-esque. More so if this is a simple form change, which is my guess. Basicly I see it as something akin to giratina with a gredious orb. The only difference is stats will change, maybe Deoxys is more accurate an example, except Deoxys' form change doesnt involve an item... So mix Giratina and Deoxys' form changes I say this with confidence, as Legendary Pokémon such as Mewtwo dont evolve, but may change form, and since Mewtwos new form is a 'mega' form, I have to assume its not an evolution, just a superior form.

 

I don't actually like the idea much. I'd be all for some new evolutions of Pokémon like Mawile for example, but the way they have gone about this seems like Digimon a little too much. Some of them there like Blaziken, Lucario and Ampharos don't need any new forms. Maybe these are the only six, maybe not, I dunno. From what I heard so far I don't like the concept.

 

I too believe this sounds a lot like Digimon--specifically the Burst Mode. Is it possible the Mega Stone taps into emotions like Burst Mode?

 

So if Pokémon can evolve in a Mega-Thingy now, it would be possible to give all Pokémon a new Evolution. Like Charizard for example. WHY?

I'm actually really exited for this now. Game Freak is actually changing up the formula. First a new type and now Mega Evolution. If Pokémon kept using the same old formula I would get sick and tired of it but now Game Freak is going completely outside their comfort zones to bring us these Pokémon on steroids and I'm loving it.

 

Looks like they have made my favorite Pokémon a Mega..im honored to say..that we Blaziken..ARE THE BEST!!!!
But in all seriousness i dont know how i feel about it yet. They look cool but they could have given some of these pokemons Mega spots to Pokémon that actualy needed them like dunsparce. #TeamBlaziken

 

I'm glad to see that Pokémon is finally taking a risk and trying something new. In general, I'm not sure how I feel about the idea in general. The designs look pretty cool for the most part, not a fan of that Lucario. All I can say to you, Ampharos is, what hair product do you use to get such wonderful locks? Back to the point, Pokémon always seems to try and stay safe when it comes to what they try, and it's cool to see them try something this new and outrageous. I've noticed that the fan base if very divided when it comes to whether or not they like the idea, but I'm just outright confused about it. We have two three stage evolution lines getting a new Mega Evolution, and a legendary getting one. It's interesting, however, seeing that it's Mewtwo. His Mega Evolution was released a long time ago. Game Freak, good job on getting that release out. Releasing a Mewtwo forme first was a great way to go about it. I really hope that these "evolutions" are just formes though. For the most part, I greatly prefer the original designs, but these other formes seem to be so intensely useful... With the exception of Blaziken I really prefer the original designs over the new ones, and I hope they aren't permanent evolutions. Another thing is that so far Ninetendo has been pretty consistent with keeping the starters evenly matched. Why would they give Blaziken a Mega Evolution and not the others? Do you think they might have more starter Mega Evolutions to release?

 

Its confirmed they are only temperate in battle. This makes sense though because it'd be weird if a stage 2 and legendary Pokémon evolved.

 

I enjoy the idea of a temporary boost for certain Pokémon, Absol was in need of it seeing as it lacks in overall power...though, I'd really like to see some bug types getting Mega-evolutions, because think about it..a Beedrill pumped up on steroids with actual drills for hands and stinger.

 

That's definitely a good thing if you ask me. I'd rather have a new battle capability than a new evolution limit. Especially since they're just called "Mega ____".

 

So if a Blaziken requires the Blazikenite to be held in battle in order to change into it's Mega form, that means it wouldn't be able to use items such as the Life Orb or Leftovers in the current metagame. I think this might create a big change in the metagame. I'm in two minds right now as to whether I like the idea or not. Before this was released I thought that a 4th stage or form might ruin Pokémon. I personally think that aesthetically some changes are nice, but I don't think it was really needed. Some Pokémon like Mawile needed another evolution but making it just a form is a bit disappointing for Pokémon like this.

 

I'm still wondering if the mega stone things will be one-use.
