"Of course," replied Douglas as he led Shadowlaser to a crate that contained his sniper rifle, fully loaded. "The A-class squad should be waiting for you in the front." "Thanks for everything," said Shadowlaser quickly as he grabbed his rifle and ran out. The A-class team had a cycle of every one of them, including Shadowlaser, and they started their way towards the nearest power station. The reploid with a Lieutenant symbol drove beside Shadowlaser. "I know that you are the reploid that got infected by the Maverick Virus. Just so that you know, if you even look like that you are going to attack my men, I'm not going to hesitate to retire you right then and there, got it?" "I wouldn't blame you if you did," replied Shadowlaser softly.
Blade made his way deeper into the apparently abandoned power plant. Every time he turned a corner or heard any sort of noise he expecting an oncoming attack, but he hadn't found anything yet.
"Hey Scourge, take point," ordered the Lieutenant when they reached the power station before turning towards Shadowlaser. "Rouge, take center cause I want to keep an eye on you." "I guess that's my nickname," thought Shadowlaser bitterly. "At least those voices in my head are gone."
Blade turned around as he heard a loud clanking sound reverberate throughout the abandoned power plant and ran towards its source. He was getting tired of wandering aimlessly and was glad to finally have an idea of wear to search.
From the outside, the power station didn't look too big, but knowing that they could be attacked at any time made it seem much larger. Shadowlaser knew that his sniper rifle wouldn't do any good in such a close quarters place so he put it away and extended his z-claws. At first, there seemed to be no activity anywhere in the building. As they came close to the main generator room, they started to hear noises. Shadowlaser couldn't tell what it could possibly be, but he didn't want to think about it.
Blade should have been surprised to see a large metal primate swinging around the power plant, yet somehow he wasn't. "Spark Mandrill." Blade whispered to himself as he ducked out of the revived maverick's sight. "Bit of a step down from the last two, but he still fits the pattern. A former Maverick Hunter turned maverick that's been brought back from the dead. I'm already getting tired of this."
The main generator room was soon in sight and the entire squad started to become more cautious. The noise started to sound like banging metal and then there were voices. "Can you do it within the next hour?" "Yes, Commander." "Do what?" wondered Shadowlaser. "Rouge," whispered the Lieutenant. "Use your cloaking ability and see if you can spot who we are dealing with." "Yes, sir," Shadowlaser whispered as he changed colors.
Blade ignited his sword and readied his blaster. This was going to be his first fight with his new body and he was determined not to let it be his last. Once he was sure he was ready, he stepped back into the large room that Spark Mandrill was swinging around in. Blade followed the pattern of Mandrill's movements and took aim. He fired a blast right as Spark Mandrill was about to land, which hit the large maverick and knocked him back. The confused primate-like reploid was surprised by the sudden attack and stood up, looking furious. "Hey, you!" Blade yelled. "Go back to where you belong, stupid monkey!"
Shadowlaser carefully picked his way through the main generator room when he heard sounds of fighting. He started to pick up the pace and he saw a strange blue reploid shooting at Spark Mandrill. "What in the world is going on here?" though Shadowlaser to himself.
The hulking brown seemed to be enraged by Blade's taunting. Exactly as he had planned. Spark Mandrill roared and beat his chest, giving Blade an opportunity to charge forward, rapidly firing his blaster as he closed the distance between them. (Blade is red with white highlights, with some black added with his new body, not blue.)
(Oh, I thought that was the color of his new body, sorry) Shadowlaser grabbed for his sniper rifle and started firing at the large metal monkey to hopefully keep him distracted from the other reploid.
Blade was startled by the sudden sniper blasts, drawing his attention for a split second. Just long enough for Spark Mandrill to be able to get ready to backhand Blade with the drill that had been added to his right hand. Blade was sent flying into a wall. (Not a problem. You may have gotten mixed up due to Blade spending so much time with Bleu.)
Shadowlaser felt cold as he saw the red and white reploid fly but snapped back into reality when Mandrill whirled around toward him. The purple and black reploid immediately started running back towards the A-class squad.
Blade rolled onto his feet, dodging an Electric Spark fired at him by Spark Mandrill. This was an unexpected setback, but he didn't have time to think about that. He dodged another blast and returned fire with blaster. This battle was going to be harder than he had expected.
"Guys, Spark Mandrill is here and is fighting a reploid," Shadowlaser yelled as he uncloaked. "Alright, boys," started the Lieutenant. "When you see the target, fire in bursts, and keep your trigger finger hot. Go go go."
Blade ducked as a Spark Mandrill suddenly charged at him with his drill and slashed upwards with his sword. Spark Mandrill was knocked away with a large gash carved out of his chest while Blade fell onto the floor. There was no telling who would win this fight.
Shadowlaser found a balcony to that would be a good place for a sniper like him to stand and take shots. There he also found a clear shot towards Mandrill and started firing.
The sniper fire returned, though this time Blade was prepared for it. He rolled back away from Spark Mandrill and onto his feat. The resurrected maverick was on the defensive now, covering the hole in his chest with one arm while trying to withstand being shot over and over again. Blade readied his buster arm and took aim. If he could just get a shot at that gash he had sliced into Spark Mandrill's armor, he would be able to make short work of him.
Shadowlaser kept firing as the A-class squad flank the Maverick. Spark Mandrill's armor was tough, but it couldn't take the continuous beating from the sniper shots.
More shots fired at Spark Mandrill, giving Blade the opening that he needed to attack. He ran up to Spark Mandrill and slashed at his arm, knocking it out of the way and letting him fire a shot from his buster straight into the gash he had opened up in Spark Mandrill's chest earlier. Blade watched as the lights behind the maverick's eyes died out and he jumped away just in time to avoid the explosion as Spark Mandrill's energy core overloaded.
