Whether it be deep, moving, funny, or sad, what are some quote from the Pokémon games that have left an impression on you? Some that stick out for me: That one Psychic in XY: "You're power level might be over 9000!" (Whyyyyyyy GameFreak) That one hiker on the Ferris Wheel in BW: "You ever had a lover, kid?... I think I got to know you a little better!" o_O Ghetsis in BW2: "Shut your mouth! Shut up! Shut up! Shut UP! Don't talk like a person, you freak! No real person could talk to Pokémon!" (Jerk, don't talk that way to your kid )
"Pokémon Battle! READY!? GO!!!" - a reference in RBY (I think it was one of the trainers in the Dark Tunnel between Cerulean City and Lavender Town) to the show G Gundam, in which the phrase "Gundam Fight! READY!? GO!!!" was said at the start of every official match.
"We hope to see you again soon!" -Nurse Joy from the games What, you WANT my Pokémon to get hurt, just so you get more service?
Aye, admittedly it was something I had not caught when I first played it, but it was understandable as G Gundam had not aired Stateside when RBY was released (it came a few years afterward). Needless to say, when I made the connection I fanboyed pretty hard.
I don't know why exactly, but something that's always stuck with me is when in B/W Concordia says, "N's heart is pure and innocent. But there is nothing more beautiful and terrifying than innocence." B/W had a lot of good quotes in general actually.
So I was playing through ultra sun, and when Mallow gives you the grassium z, she says "You go, like, 'Graaassss!' OK?" I just thought that was funny.
There's actually a few I really like. "If we live a monotonous life, do we get used to it and stop thinking about changing it?" - NPC in Icirrus City "There are bad ways to win, and good ways to lose. What's interesting and troubling is that it's not always clear which is which. A flipped coin doesn't always land heads or tails. Sometimes it may never land at all..." - Grimsley "Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best." - Karen "My name is Cynthia. I'm a trainer, just like you."- Cynthia. "For the sake of the Pokémon that believe in me, I will never give up." -Caitlin And finally, my all time favorite. "We do have a lot in common. The same earth, the same air, the same sky. Maybe if we started looking at what's the same, instead of always looking at what's different, well, who knows?"- Meowth Hit me hard, not gonna lie.
The best quote in all Pokémon games comes from the man Gary Oak/Blue "Smell ya later!" Don't tell me that didn't get you choked up with emotions. Knowing that soon you'd be killing his Rattata.
"It 's more important to master the cards you're holding than to complain about the ones your opponent was dealt." -Grimsley
Playing through Moon, with Lusamine being so obsessed over all things beautiful to the point of neglecting her children and driving them both to run away and then getting possessed by a Pokémon that was the object of her obsession. After beating her, she looks to Lillie and says "When did you become so beautiful?" Omg, the feels though. That whole last section of the game was just amazingly well done. Edit: Also moving this to Pokémon General since it deals with all of the Pokémon games, not just the 3DS titles.
My favorite pre-battle quote comes from a youngster near Prof Kukiu's lab in USUM. It goes a bit like this: *ahem* "KNEECAPS!" I don't know why, but that's probably the most intimidating line I've ever heard in this whole series. It leaves me scared and confused. My other favorite post-battle line comes from a Skull Grunt outside of Po Town in USUM, the one at the bottom of the mountain path. He says "Yo, yo, ya don't stop. Even if you lose, ya don't stop!" It's a solid word of encouragement from my tied-for-favorite team.
“...Are they based on the ideals you cling to? Or are they based on actual truths?...” -Zinnia, ORAS Delta Episode
