So how many know what this is? How many have used it? I would abuse this glitch to no end, using it on every trainer I could just to see what would show up.

Why don't you explain what the glitches are, what they do, and how to do them? I personally had to look up the Ditto glitch; if you explained, I think there'd be less confusion. :)

Nah, I never got to play the original game, so I couldn't use it anyway. I do know what it is though.

As for the Ditto glitch, that's news to me. I had never heard about it before.

People have abused it on every trainer to see what show up. xD

But I digress, I didn't find out until a few years ago and went ballistic (in a good way). Apparently the Mew glitch is an intended one, which makes this even better. It was the only glitch I probably preformed willingly, given that it had no negative side effects provided you only used it to obtain mew (and did it CORRECTLY).

I have no idea what the ditto glitch, or if its part of the mew glitch. /dies I don't feel like looking it up, because I'm kind of scared to know what I'll actually find.

This is a lot of text, so be prepared to read.

So not everyone knows what the ditto glitch it. I suppose I should have explained at the beginning of the thread. In R/B/Y, overworld sprites took a half a second to appear onscreen. There were a few trainers around the region that you could perform some hax with, If you stood just above their location and walked down one step, you could press the start button and Fly/Teleport away from them before they can notice you. The exclamation point will still appear above their head, but you'll be gone before they can approach you. At this point, the only buttons that work are the directional arrows. Start, Select, A and B are all unusable at this point. At this point you would walk around until you found a trainer, and you would battle them. After you defeat them, you fly to either Lavender Town, Cerulean City or Saffron city, depending on which trainer you flew/teleported away from. Upon trying to leave the city, the start menu will pop up on its own. Closing it will cause an encounter with one of any of the 151 Pokémon in the game (or MissingNo.). The Pokémon will always be at level 7. Sometimes trainers appear, but that doesn't happen often. The trainer on route 25 who uses a Slowpoke will cause Mew to appear, which led to most referring to it as "the Mew glitch". He may not not be under the truck, but you can still find him. In the first generation, there was no Special Attack and Special Defense. There was just Special. The Pokémon that would appear upon the completion of this glitch depended on the Special stat of the last Pokémon you defeated. The "Ditto" glitch refers to the method in which you can control what Pokémon will appear, allowing you to obtain all 151 Pokémon without trading or a gameshark. First, you have to make sure you have a Pokémon that has the Special stat that corresponds wiith the Pokémon you want to encounter. Proceed with the glitch as I explained it before, but after you defeat a trainer, do not proceed to any of the afformentioned cities. Instead, fly to any area where Ditto can appear. Once you encounter one, switch to the Pokémon with the right Special stat. When Ditto transforms, it copies the Pokémon's stats as well. When you defeat this Ditto, you'll have defeated a Pokémon with the correct Special Stat. After you do this, finish the glitch as you normally would. It's not hard to find a list of what Special stat goes with what Pokémon, just google it. You can do this glitch as many times as you want so long as you don't let all of the trainers that you need to start the glitch to engage you in battle. I've only encountered one problem with this before. It may not have even been related, just a bug in the save, but Giovanni would not appear at the Silph Co. building. His text would appear, but his sprite wouldn't, making it impossible to progress through the rest of the game. This glitch does not cause any lasting damage to the game itself, so it's safe to use if you're prepared for the slight possibilty of it corrupting your current game. If you are going to use it, have fun with, experiment with what trainer battle makes what Pokémon appear. Sometimes you get really good stuff. A biker on Cycling road makes a Dragonite appear, and a scientist at Silph Co. makes a Moltres appear!

It's definitely a very interesting glitch, as well as one of the most complex of them all. I've always been interested in glitches in games, but I never tried the complicated ones like this one. I'd rather look a video up from someone on YouTube who does all the work for me :) Nevertheless, it's a pretty cool glitch!

Messing around with the Mew/Ditto glitch was hours of fun. Some of the results one can achieve are... interesting, to say the least.
