    Great glitch or greatest glitch? That garbled SOB was so useful. It did make things kind of cheap but hey, the playing field leveled out. A lot of people got worried it would delete their saved games but it has nothing to do with save data. Although you can say goodbye to a coherent hall of fame forever.

    Your experiences with this hex-code placeholder? And other old glitches as well, Gold and Silver cloning comes to mind.

    I thought, and still think, Missingno. and any other glitches in the first games were AWESOME.
    They're so fascinating, its really interesting to see how minor errors in programming can result in the famous glitch that is Missingno.

    Yeah the item duplication is incredibly useful and complete accidental byproduct of triggering the glitch. There are a lot of rumors that Missingno. will mess with your save-game, but it's not the case, it has nothing to do with save data. All it will permanently screw up is the graphics for the Hall of Fame. Occasionally it can mess with the sprites of Pokémon in your party on the status screen but it can be fixed easily.

    When I was little, I used to hear a bunch about MissingNo. I never got it though. Mainly because I'm too lazy to try and me trying to do anything with a glitch in a game usually results in a bad ending. xD But the videos on youtube seem pretty interesting, enough~

    Greatest glitch :) When I figured it out, it was fun xD I didn't know about it the first time I played through but that made it even more fun since I could mess around with it.

    LOL why does that sound like something you'd do :) I never caught it since I heard it messed the game up. I guess it's true :D

    Nah, it only messes up some of the graphics, only the Hall of Fame graphics are permanently messed up. Other ones can be fixed just by looking at looking at a normal Pokédex entry. It also has nothing at all to do with saved games. Honestly there's way more reward than risk with Missingno.

    Missingno helped me complete the Pokédex in Red since I had infinite Master Balls to catch everything and infinite Rare Candy to level them all up to evolve. The glitch that let you catch Safari Zone Pokémon outside of the Safari Zone helped a lot, too. I remember Kangaskhan was the last Pokémon I had to catch.
