As someone who used to be hugely into MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games) I'm curious if anyone else has played any, either now or in the past. Even if you've never played there are probably MMORPGs you've heard of, like well-known titles such as MapleStory or World of Warcraft. MMOs made up my childhood and I used to be so into trying out tons of them. I have lots of good memories with Trickster Online, La Tale, MapleStory, Dragon Nest, among others. What about you guys? /o/ Any MMOs that make you nostalgic? Are you playing any atm?
There's a small free MMO I play, have been playing on and off since 2010. I don't want to say what it is as it's a fan-made Pokémon one. I enjoy it, although it can be grind-hell once you're lv 20+.
I don't really play MMOs at all. I played Path of Exile for a little while, but I just couldn't get into it.
Ohh man, I feel like the only one who has never experienced RuneScape or WoW. Wonder what I am missing here (and if it's a good type of miss). Still know people who play WoW and have for an extremely long time! Meanwhile I primarily play FFXIV at the moment, it's an amazing game. Plus it works on Mac which is what I've been looking for for moooonths. Currently trying to get the Red Mage class to lv. 70 for my Goddess of Magic title. Just a bit more... *^* tbh I prefer subscription-based games lately. They tend to be built better with more features and definitely a much more reliable server/staff team. Unlike the f2p MMOs I've played....which crashed a lot more and at some point required cash shop purchases to catch up with everyone else
I tried a lot of MMOs but never really got into any of them. Though I never got far into it, Trickster Online is super cute and I have fond memories of it because my friends played it a little too, albeit less. Very cute pixel art style and OST too. I would try a private server for it today but I don't have the time/would rather do other things besides MMOs. I am... intrigued by more quality subscription-based games like FFXIV but... time... and I have other games I want to play. I don't think I'm ready for the kind of commitment it would take haha.
I've played a few, like RuneScape and World of Warcraft which I stopped playing. Played a few free ones too but currently the only MMO I play is Final Fantasy XIV.
I keep jumping around MMO's, played a good portion of them. But my main four have been a rotation of SW:TOR, FFXIV, WoW and DCUO with GW2 on the side
I played a couple MMOs here and there (they're what got me into Pokémon). Infact, I first thought LV was an MMO and spent quite a while searching for the game that I thought LV came attached with. They're fun but personally, I feel like they become old after a while cause the focus is on gaming more than anything else.
I've said this plenty of times before but I'm super into Eden Eternal. It's relatively unknown but I absolutely love it. It's quite a flawed game, admittedly, but there's just something charming about me that keeps drawing me in every time.
I have off an on considered getting back into FFXIV, but I'm not sure I have the time for it. I platted it on the PS4 back in 2015 and I was plugging some 12+ hours a day into it at points. This was when Heavensward was just being released and apparently they've fixed the story so that it's not murderously boring, so I've been curious about it for a while. Now that I have a laptop capable of running it, it's even more tempting... ...apart from FFXIV, I've never tried an MMO. I was going to try WoW back in University but my PC wouldn't run it, and I've off-and-on considered playing Knights of the Old Republic but that's never gone anywhere. Not sure it's really a genre for me.
oh my gosh! I tried that game aaages back, want to say around 6-7 years ago. The graphics are adorable and something I know I'd love to play actively. Completely forgot about it until I read this post. Unfortunately Aeria Games has a reputation for hosting games that end up extremely pay-to-win....would you agree with that? That was one of my worries with sticking with it, so I never got too far. =( Edit: Just checked the forum and it's incredibly inactive. Apparently the game hasn't had any content updates in over a year too. Hopefully it ends up pulling through for a while longer, but that's a bad sign.
aaaah I didn't think I'd ever find someone here who even knew about EE, that's awesome! In terms of pay-to-win, there's a lot of that going on in the background as you play, and especially the cool customization options are locked behind a paywall. But just playing through the regular game, doing all the quests and getting your character to level 90 are all completely free, and a ton of fun. After that, getting good at PvP and mastering your skills, yeah that's mostly for those who have money to spare. And yeah, the game "died" a few years ago. There's still enough people playing so that you'll occasionally run into other people while playing, but it's not hugely popular anymore. And I'm in one of the game's most active guilds, so that helps finding other people!
Currently trialing WoW! Though I'm having a hard time deciding on a realm haha. I know I'll be a mostly Alliance player so an Alliance-based realm is the preference, though there are so many realms in general it's hard to choose. Currently on Lightbringer but I made a character on Stormrage too just to see how crowded it is. A little bummed out the free trial only goes to lv. 20 though. Doesn't seem like I get enough of a feel for the game by such a low level. The two friends I have who play are on Stormrage which may be a bit too crowded, and Skullcrusher which is on the unpopulated side. May just end up sticking with Lightbringer for that good balance.
