A pretty straightforward topic and question to think about. As you may all know Mobile gaming took off a few years ago pretty strongly, with the first big hits like Angry Birds and Doodle Jump. The market is huge now and there are a lot of random cool games, and some pretty terrible knock offs/freemium games. Do you game on your mobile device? Do you think it should be considered as an official genre in video games, or do you think it already is an official genre? Do you tend to fall for Micro transactions, or do you try to steer clear of that app store? If you do/have buy/bought a Mobile game, how much did you spend for it, and was the price worth it?

For me, Doodle jump was my biggest piece of good addicting and fun games. I tend to stay on the free side of things, but I miss the old days of the appstore where every game that usually came out was original, with proper quality, and wasn't a rip off or scam.

The only "good" game(s) I play on my mobile device is the Temple Run series, and that's only to kill time when I'm waiting for someone, or something. I don't take mobile game seriously like I do console or handheld gaming. It's just very gimmicky, imo. "Oh, okay, you can have this game free, but you have to pay pretty much your whole paycheck if you want all these features, and some of which are required to progress through the game". Most mobile games are a scam, even the ones that DO cost money to purchase.

In my personal opinion, "mobile" isn't a genre, it's just a device you play games on. Genres are categories.

That would be like saying my 3DS or Wii U are "genres". They're consoles, not genres.

Examples of a genre would be:

    -Action/Adventure
    -RPG
    -Sports/Racing
    -Platforming
    -First person Shooter
    -Fighter

I can't see how a device in itself can be classified as a genre. There are mobile games of all the genres I provided above.

As somebody who doesn't own a tablet or smartphone, I don't really have a huge opinion on this. I mean, since you have the tablet/smartphone, you might as well play the games. I just think that console gaming is far superior.

Of course, console gaming is far better, but I think mobile gaming can be pretty neat. I mainly use it as a way to kill time (I don't take my XL or Vita with me when I'm out), and it does the job very nicely.

    Mobile gaming, why not?

Games on mobile phones are gradually getting better and phones getting more powerful. It is also very good time killer if you are waiting for something/someone

I like it for on the go things, as such, I get bored easily, so it's a bonus.
But then again, the phone's oh so small, so it gets annoying at times.
