Some Pokémon have access to a few viable moves, some have a decent amount, and a few have a lot of variety to choose from. What Pokémon do you think is the most versatile in competitive play and why?

I would have to go with Tyranitar, because it can play a lot of different roles in battle. For one thing, it has massive special defense and can automatically set up a sandstorm. Its stats overall are pretty good, and it has a very wide move pool. With its phenomenal attack and special defense and other stats it can utilize items such as a choice band, assault vest, berries, weakness policy, and even in some occasions a choice scarf. With access to moves like dragon dance, stealth rock, and a variety of stab moves, it can be quite unpredictable. Add that it even gets a mega evolution and it becomes even more so versatile. It can be used competitively in both doubles and singles as well. Overall, Tyranitar has a great amount of versatility because of its great stats, wide movepool, and overall strategic use in competitive play.

Gonna have to be the guy who says Ditto.

After that... uh, Greninja. It does a lot of things. And they all die to it. Goodbye, Greninja.

Greninja hands down. Smogon can't handle versatility and thus banned him. Just like aegislash, predicting is just too hard so lets ban it.

Rotom in any of its special forms. It can do so many things. Be bulky in either def. or sp. def., be offensive with choice spec, choice scarf for speed and on and on. Its crazy.

Greninja. It's a pretty intense Pokémon with even more deadly moves to use in OR/AS. I've found it incredibly useful and a big problem to a lot of my teams, especially since it gets Sludge Wave. My Clefable can't set up against it which is a big problem on the Battle Spot.

Greninja, Rotom, Gliscor, Dragonite, Charizard, Heatran, Zapdos, Mandibuzz, Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Sableye, Skarmory (I guess), Klefki

That's just to name a few.

    Salamence.

This thing has so many different sets it can take advantage of, giving it the option to mega evolve only adds on to it. You can make Salamence, choiced up with any item, and his Mega can either be physical or special, it has the right moves to assist it too, and it just overall can deal with a lot of things, it also has intimidate, moxie, and its mega gets Aerialate, all which are great Abilities.

Imma go out on a limb here and say...
    [3D='garchomp']
This thing is SO GOOD. If it got Dragon Dance, it would be insta-Ubers. But what Garchomp does...
It can be a defensive wall with Rocky Helmet
It can be a Sub-Salac SD variant
It can be a lead Rocker
    It can be a Scarfer
It can troll you with a M-Evolution and drop a Draco
    RIP Ferrothorn 'cuz Fire Blast
The monster has just the right moves to destroy teams, while not having making it OP in OU. While Fairies=less Garchomp, it might make a comeback due to the lack of Ice types used in OU.

    Just gonna leave a list:

    1. Ditto
    2. Mew
    3. Thundurus
    4. Greninja
    5. Landorus
    6. Aegislash
    7. Sableye
Most of these are self-explanatory, but here is a bit of in-depth reasoning. Ditto tops my list because of Impostor, and that is really the main reason. Mew comes next for sake of knowing all TMs, HMs, and tutor moves in addition to great stats and access to Transform. Thundurus is next for sake of it being fantastic in literally every metagame. Greninja for Protean and a wide move pool, next to noting impressive offensive stats. Landorus is great because of the difference in formes (I know it is kind of cheating the idea a bit, but hey). Aegislash for the wide variety in usage, just as Mew has. Sableye because of its mega, Prankster, and wide movepool.

Hmm, I'd have to say this...
    [3D='slaking']
Before you think "what the hell is this guy thinking," hear me out. In singles, it isn't that amazing, heck even Regigigas would destroy it. Traunt ruins it, and for good reason. However, Skill Swap it something good *cough* [3D='kecleon'] *cough* or use Gastro Acid on it and it has a massive destructive power. With so much attack power, beefy Hp stat, and a wide movepool, this guy will destroy your doubles, especially with Slack Off.

Any Pokémon that follows the "Mew Clause" AKA Having the same number in each base stat. I like those Pokémon because YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GONNA DO!

Im surprised no one mentioned Mega Altaria. It has such an amazing movepool, and can do virtually ANY job it wants to do.

Need a Cleric? Altaria gets Roost and Heal Bell.

Need a Tank? With excellent defensive typing, 75/110/105 bulk, and moves like Cotton Guard, Roost, and Toxic, it can preform the job well.

Need a Special Attacker? Altaria has moves like Fire Blast, Ice Beam, Draco Meteor, and even Pixelate Hyper Voice.

Need a Dragon Dancer? Altaria gets the job done quite easily with EQ, Return, and Dragon Claw. It even has the typing and bulk to be an effective SubDancer.

With 110/110 Offenses, Altaria can even go mixed.

    MegaTaria is amazing.

I'm gonna go with either T-Tar or Nidoqueen.

Nidoqueen has the right ability in Sheer Force when paired with the Life Orb to do some serious damage. She also runs some really great defensive sets with stealth rocks and she's great for eliminating poison. A versatile moveset with Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, EQ, and Poison Jab allows her to hit a wide variety of opponents.

    T-tar does everything.

No one mentioned Togekiss? Alright then. Lemme shed some light.

Togekiss has, and I'm being literal, fifteen, yes, FIFTEEN official and viable sets to it's name. Honestly. Want a wall? Togekiss got Protect, Toxic, Wish, all that good stuff. Defogger? Togekiss got you covered. Want a nice special attacker? No problem, use this thing's ridiculous Movepool and choice specs and you got yourself exactly that. Physical attacker? Sure. Delve back into this thing's ridiculous movepool. Want a wall? We got you with Thunderwave, Will-o and Toxic.

    This thing is Literaly insane.
