Watch a cool movie? Drop a recommendation here for your fellow members. Remember, no spoilers. I'll suggest: - Manchester by the Sea - Stronger - A Few Good Men
Twelve Angry Men. Gosh darn, that is a good movie that you have to have seen at least once in your life Schindler's List A movie about the holocaust, but completely in black and white, only on occasion having color. it was so well made and the characters don't seem like just characters.
I remember watch the Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Not my favorite but it was decent. Marine, my dad raves about Schindler's List. Might have to watch it soon. Anyone seen Life is Beautiful?
Even though there will never be a third movie to complete the story, I'd strongly recommend watching Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Two of Del Toro's better films, with special effects that hold up pretty well now despite being over a decade old, pretty solid acting, and a nice unique take on the character that doesn't butcher the source material the way modern comic book films *coughmcucough* do. ...speaking of Del Toro, if you've not seen Pan's Labyrinth, you owe it to yourself to watch it at least once. Also, Stargate. Honestly I prefer the TV series, but the original movie is where it started and its definitely worth a watch if you've not seen it.
I suggest Doctor Strangelove. Do you like comedy movies? Then this is the granddaddy of all spoof movies. It was made in the 50s so its all black and white but it is still hilarious. The idea is simple, the US have a nuclear warhead accidentally headed for Russia. If it drops, the world ends and that's it. It makes fun of the fears of the cold war and makes both the us and Russia look like bumbling idiots and its hilarious. The comedy is not for everyone but it does come up with one of my favorite lines in any movie. I'll put it in spoiler because its best if you see it blind. Spoiler: Favorite line in the Movie "Gentlemen! you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!"
Pitch Black is a pretty good movie that not a lot of people have seen...although it IS 18 years old now, so its not too surprising. But its worth a watch if you like a good sci-fi...and Vin Diesel. Despite being pretty one-dimensional, Riddick is actually a fairly compelling character who pulls off the badass persona well enough to not be overtly cheesy or boring. The Chronicles of Riddick, the sequel, feels a little cheesier in terms of plot, but it does a reasonably good job at expanding the setting a bit, and visually it still holds up pretty well. Don't watch Riddick unless you enjoyed Pitch Black enough to want to watch it again, though. There is very little difference between the two films in terms of plot, asides from the fact that Riddick has a dog for a bit in this one.
