I was inspired by the previous thread I made about work environment. A lot of you guys said you needed some sort of background noise or music while you were working and it got me to think that I only listen to specific genres of music when I am making art. This can go for writers too! What kind of music do y'all listen to when you are working on something? I listen to a lot of calm music. Anything else gives me a headache because I'm focusing too hard on art and it kind of disrupts what I'm doing.
I have a playlist of kpop songs that I like that I usually put on when I draw. They don't all fit into the same genre, but I suppose I can describe them as being upbeat but with a certain relaxing element. I actually like being distracted by music while I'm drawing, because after the sketch stage I can do the rest pretty mindlessly and it can get boring after a while. It helps me stay focused (and in a good mood) if I'm half-singing along to something.
i tend to put on some japanese songs most of the time! i really cant understand a majority of whats being said but something that i cant understand is pretty good for me because i dont want to break my focus from the art to instead focus on the meaning of the song haha. occasionally ill put up a cute song for cuter pieces and for pieces that arent as cute and happy i might put up something slower...... the song you pick can really have an effect on the art at least to me. sometimes ill also put up a 3 hour stream and listen to that even if its not "music" per say. i just cant work in dead silence and i just need anything to listen to. so by extension my sister counts lmao.
This is super lame, so dont laugh But like, I have playlists for each of my characters that I listen to when I'm drawing them. The playlists are a mix of music they'd listen to or music that fits their theme/story. I also have a general playlist if I'm not drawing my ocs. I prefer lyricless music in my general playlist.
That's not lame! I'm sure a lot of people do that. I'm sure it also helps get into the mindset of drawing that specific character.
I listen to a lot of different things, from game soundtracks (Xenoblade and Fire emblem), to pop and rock. I usually just set youtube music on autoplay and see where I strand
I can't handle silence at any time at all except when I go to sleep. Without music or some sort of noise my mind wanders off and it's difficult to come back to reality. I usually listen to music relating to the art- if I'm drawing Sonic, I'm listening to Sonic music, Pokémon ocs have Pokémon music, ect. When I draw characters not relating to a series, I listen to stuff that could relate to them/the mood of the art. Shadria (the kitsune, my main version of her) usually has sad/scary vocaloid (Meltdown, Tokyo Teddy Bear, Fear Garden, ect) or some bands I like (P!ATD, Studio Killers, and Caravan Palace)
