When it comes to music, do you create your own music? If so, what apps or programs do you use to make them? Or if you do it without computers/tablets, what instruments do you use? Do you usually do it alone or with a group of friends?

I usually sing a little bit myself, but I mostly just sing through others songs that I listen to a lot, but that's mostly it. I don't really create music.

A few years back, I took an electronic music class in school. Mostly it involved making new pieces using already-recorded loops, and had a side focus of remixing existing tracks using loops and sound modification. I was actually somewhat impressed with my own creations, but it was such a long time ago that I don't know where I have them any more, but if I find any of my tracks I'll put them up here for listening!

I do remember the two main softwares we used for that were Acid and Audacity. Acid was/is an awesome piece of software for putting loops or clips together, syncing their speeds, visually displaying their presence and all that cool stuff. I'm pretty sure it's paid software though, and I never got it for myself. Audacity, on the other hand, is free, and I use it even today for minor audio jobs. Volume correction, intro/outro cutting, improving fadeouts. Still, that on its own isn't much making. That was all in the past.

My sister and I play on the piano, but at home, we have a professional $600 keyboard. We can play a variety of songs, ranging from Pokémon pieces to Forest Gump and classical music as well. We've gone far in theory, even knowing all the Greek Scales of piano.

I have a really, really old piano that my grand-mum used to play when she was a little girl & it's still in really good shape after who knows how many years. My grand-mum taught me how to play what is now one of my favourite songs on it & I can still play it flawlessly.

I attempt to make Midi songs with Anvil and Cakewalk, but I hate how Midi sounds on my computer and most of my songs are awful anyways. XD I just do it for fun.

Basically whenever I pick up an acoustic guitar I end up improvising, and from it I think I've come up with some nice sections for a few instrumental songs. I've just never really got around to making a complete song, and instead just generally loop a section and improvise over it. Since I'm self taught at guitar I'm less familiar with the chords that a lot of the sections are based around.

For bass guitar, I was fairly uncomfortable with improvising in harmonic minor, so my guitar teacher and I wrote a piece for me to practice to get more familiar with the scale and its modes. It's a pretty complicated piece, with many time signature changes as well as a far amount of chromaticism, but To be honest it's less of a piece of music and more of a tongue twister exercise to warm you up. Other than that, I don't really have much experience writing music for bass, other than basic improvisation over backing tracks and creating simple basslines in previous bands. If I would ever write a song, I would most likely start with something on guitar and then write a fitting part for the bass, drums etc.

I think it's cool what people can come up with using software though. You can get some pretty cool sounds/effects which you just can't get using instruments.
