There are many programs out there that exist for the specific reason of composing/remixing/creating music. One of the most popular of which is FL Studio, which I'm an owner of, and it's a nice program. Programs allow for precision that isn't typically available in most musicians, as well as the ability to listen to every part of a musical composition as it is being programmed.

Do you own any music-making programs? What plugins do you use? Did you pirate it, or did you rightfully buy it? What style of music do you typically build your songs around? (drum-oriented, orchestral, rock, metal, etc.)

I don't have any music-making programs myself, but we use Cubasis in our music class at school. If I ever get myself a keyboard (the music one), I think I'll install that program too since it works fine. I'll need a newer version though, the one they're using at school is from 2000 or something like that. It still looks very Windows XP-y.
