Hey all! I thought I'd drop a link on this forum showing a couple of 3D models I've made in 3DS Max and Maya. I have made many more models in the past, however I never got around to uploading them. Link here: https://damo334.carbonmade.com/ I also created a video game demo in university, back in 2012. I was in a team of 4, with some additional help from family. I worked on the 3d models, effects, plot, level design, and sound effects. My brother worked on the soundtracks and my father voiced the majority of units, edited by myself in Audacity. Other team members worked on the code, textures and additional 3d models. I plan to release this game in the future, complete with a full campaign for all 3 factions. There will be land battles on various planets, including ice, jungle, built-up bustling sci-fi city planets and more; for skirmishes and progression throughout the story. These land battles will be Red Alert 2 inspired (as is the game in general), with base building, infantry, tanks, jets and objectives. I look forward to your feedback Zen
Aww thanks @[member="GiratinaMissingNo"]! Although, i'd need to hire an AI programmer in order to realize my dream and complete that RTS game. I'm so bad at code I was thinking maybe a Kickstarter, in the near future, if there's enough demand for a Space/Land RTS out there. Most RTS' these days follow the MOBA route, which is fine, I just really want an old school CnC style RTS game to appear in the Steam Store
Try Codecademy, it works for me. A Kickstarter could go well, in our age Space/Land could very well be the next new thing. Let it be known that in our Hunger Games of the 2017 business world, I bet on you I'd say look around on GoFundMe as well, just to get a bit of a boost. Good luck @[member="Zen1"]! #MissingNo
@[member="GiratinaMissingNo"] Thanks for the advice dude! I'll check them out right away! A Kickstarter could also go horribly wrong. But if Star Citizen can do it, why cant I? Probably because I'm not Chris Roberts Haha thanks for the bet man!
Your graphics are super impressive, I love that light pink sporty car, I would drive that XD How long do you say it takes you to make a more complex 3D model?
@[member="Cadbberry"] Aww thanks! You mean the Ford Mustang? That's my dream car! I guessing modelling it is as close as I'll get to one for now hehe A vehicle takes me about 3 days, 5-6 hours of work total. That includes textures too. A prop can be anything from a few minutes to an hour, depending on what's required. That guitar took about an hour, I think. A character (humanoid) takes me about a week, if I work hard on the model. That's about 40 hours total, which includes textures, rigging and animation. I can model characters, but I prefer vehicles and environment props
I think they look excellent, I am awed at how fast you work, we have modelers in our class who can take months for one small box. It is just super cool!
@[member="Cadbberry"] N'aww you're too kind! Thanks! I always thought I modelled pretty slow tbh. But months for a small box? Create > Primitives > Cube (Maya) hehe
Interesting work, you mentioned a programmer. Alas, I am not one but I am learning. Would you like me to give you some links to easy websites to learn off of?
@[member="Vigilance"] Cheers dude! That would be brilliant, thanks! I did learn some basics, like IF Statements and Arrays back in University, but I decided to focus on 3D instead. I also have Blueprints in Unreal Engine 4 to help build up the game with some basic scripts like "keep units here for x amount of time to capture point". UE4 is what I intend to rebuild the game in, as the one you see in the video is in Torque 3D, which is not a great engine IMHO. AI programming is my main worry though
