I've been reading up a lot on mythology lately, and I gotta say it's pretty rad. Any other people around here into myths and legends from various cultures? Let me know and stuff. Also tell me what your favorite myth is???
Shinto mythology! (Japanese) I think my favorite myth is about Susanoo and Kushinada-hime (the slaying of Orochi)
I used to be a big fan of greek and roman mythology. I don’t read up on it much anymore, but I used to know a lot. Another kind of mythology I was into, was norse mythology. Sadly, my knowledge on norse stuff was very small.
I LOVE mythology and folklore! I particularly like to explore lesser known pantheons and cultures outside the Greek/Roman/Egyptian/Norse/Celtic box
I love Greek/Roman mythology! Got into it due to Percy Jackson, but all of the stories are entertaining. favorite myth has to be Theseus and his adventures.
I really adore mythology and I wish I knew more about it than I did. I'm very well-read in Greek mythology (I could probably tell you two different versions of every story) and I've got an average understanding of Norse and Egyptian (I really wish I knew both better, though, as they're fascinating); and as my parents are both medievalists, I grew up on Irish folklore, so I know quite a bit about that too. But besides a small amount of Asian and African folklore (how little I know is reflected by my lack of specifics), I don't know much more than that. Mythology is quite possibly my favorite branch of history and I hope to be able to learn more about it later in life.
Greek and Roman but I remember Greek better I think. I loved to watch Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless on Hercules and Xena.
I've! Fallen haaaard for Norse mythology this year, even before GOW 2018 dropped earlier in the year. It has a good few interesting tales, if for the fact that some are quite disturbing. Other than that, I loved Egyptian mythology growing up.
I've always been a huge fan of greek mythology. Mainly because I have greek origins. But I've always loved the stories I mean if there were two shows you'd catch me watching after school when I was like I dunno 7 or 8 it'd be power rangers operation overdrive (my dad recorded the episodes since they were on in the morning) and Hercules but I only just now found out that Hercules is actually the roman name of that hero and that his greek name is Heracles. And to be honest Roman mythology is just kinda a rip off of greek mythology. I mean heck Apollo is apollo and Nemesis is nemesis sometimes the names didn't even change.
Mythology is great. I remember there was a trivia thing a couple years ago for summer scramble and I think I was able to answer all but a couple questions. I like stories that involve the tree of life, since it appears in just about every culture. Mythological archetypes are so cool.
I love mythology! Greek is my favorite, because it's the one that I know the most about, though I am getting more and more fond of Norse mythology. I just love how strange these stories are, like the myth of how Dionysus was kidnapped by a couple of pirates, so he turned them all into dolphins. Or the story where Thor's hammer was stolen so he and Loki dressed up like a couple of girls to get it back.
I really like all kinds of mythology. You get to learn about a culture, and myths are usually really inspiring! Many writers get a lot of inspiration from Greek myths, such as Rick Riordan, to name a very obvious example (his books literally have Greek/Roman/Egyptian gods in them.)
I love norse mythology, like the World serpent and the 2 Wolves who chase the sun and moon. I also like the myth about the giant tortoise(or was it turtle) which holds up the world.
