The Gen V games introduces 3 different antagonists: N, Ghetsis, and Colress.

N, or Natural Harmonia Gropius is the king of Team Plasma from the Black and White games. He's a boy who was orphaned and left in the woods where he was raised by Pokémon, where he learned how to communicate with Pokémon. Soon Ghetsis came by, claimed to be N's father, and raised him to be the king of Team Plasma. It was there that N began to realize that as long as Pokémon were being 'owned' by humans, they can never be free, so, he devised a plan to encourage and force trainers to release their Pokémon.

We faced N a couple of times, where he soon develops a big interest towards us. He eventually was chosen to be a 'hero', partnering up with Reshiram or Zekrom (depending on what version you have), where he uses it to defeat Alder, to become the Pokémon champion. That's when the main character has to come by N's Castle to defeat N and his legendary partner Pokémon one more time. N realizes the error of his ways, thinking that maybe Pokémon can be even happier with their partner humans after all.

    [IMG][IMG]

Technically Ghetsis was revealed as the Sage Leader in Pokémon Black and White, where he and a couple of Team Plasma members go around the region with propaganda stating, 'trainers! release their Pokémon!' or something akin to that. He seemed to be a supporter for N until it's revealed that Ghetsis adopted N to be his son, and that his true intentions was to use N to allow Team Plasma to rule the world.

He dons a new black outfit in Pokémon White 2 & Black 2, and created the 'Neo Team Plasma'. His intentions to try and take over Unova became more apparent when he wanted to use Kyreum's power to freeze Unova to steal every Pokémon in the region. To do this, he needed DNA splicers, as well as the research of the newly appointed Team Plasma boss, Colress. After defeating him, he.. snaps. The Plasma trio tells us that his heart is no longer able to commit crime.

Again, Colress is the newly appointed boss in the Neo Team Plasma. We encounter him loads of times, the first being near outside Castelia, where he introduces himself to be someone who's interested in how the true strength of Pokémon can be brought out. He then mentions Team Plasma, where he states that they did not agree with their previous ideals. We battle him a couple of times, even one time in the World Tournament, and he even helped us out by quelling a few Crustle that blocked our path.

Soon though, when we storm the Team Plasma base, we meet him again, where he reveals to be the new Team Plasma boss, where he reveals that he joined Team Plasma to pursue and research the true strength of Pokémon. After beating him, he realizes that Pokémon strength can possible be improved by bonds.. or something akin to that. Then he decides that along with the defeated Team Plasma, they'd have to work hard to atone on all they've done.

Anywho, after all that's been said, Which one of these three do you like the most? Which one was the most challenging, and which one had the better development?

I personally liked N the most because of how you can see him changing over the course of the story. You see how he's been manipulated as a child and how that ultimately changes who he is. He was really passionate about his love for Pokémon, and how he would do so much to keep them safe, no matter the cost. Also, the guy had a CASTLE rise from the ground. You cannot tell me that isn't cool.

I felt like Colress is more of an opportunist. Although Colress is a "boss," when I talked to him/battled him, he felt more like some guy who latched onto the best opportunity to conduct his research. He also seems to appreciate the player's outlook, which makes him more of a ambiguous guy.

Ghetsis really didn't care for anyone but himself. He was more of the type of guy who would do whatever it took to become the sole leader, desiring absolute power. More of a tyrant than anything else. It was a huge change of pace from the light hearted, comedic actions of grunts in previous games.

All three characters had differing aspects, but it felt like N had the most resolve as he felt the pain of the other Pokémon he was raised with.

As for who was the hardest to beat, I had a relatively easy time defeating all of them, which was really unfortunate, so I couldn't really get a good read on how tough each one was.

I liked Colress. Not only was his hair fabulous, he was a pretty cool character in general. His team was actually challenging to me unlike the other two who I just always pounded through. (That might be just because of the team I was using). I like how he is working for Team Plasma just to seek out something. He is kind of "using" them, you could say.

I really like Ghetsis. gets shot It's just, he's so evil, possibly the most evil character in the main series. For some reason I really like villains like him, Giovanni, and Lysandre, haha. He's so deceitful and manipulative and even establishes a puppet ruler just so he can keep sneaking around in the shadows. And he's completely ruthless and has a trio of ninjas to do his every bidding! I love it. XD I think he was the hardest for me, though I don't remember any of these battles very well.

I like N as well! He was a very interesting foil to Trainers and even the player. His goal was surprisingly selfless and thinking of what he considered to be the greater good, even if he was manipulated by Ghetsis the entire time. With his interference and facing his father in B2W2, N really does show quite a bit of growth, and I think he grew the most of the three.

Colress was kinda just... there. I mean I liked him and everything, but compared to the other two leaders of Team Plasma, he's kinda bland.

N and Ghetsis both really did it for me. They are the reasons why the Gen V games were as good as they are, in my opinion. I really like them both, for different reasons.

Ghetsis is unlike the other leaders of evil organizations. Ghetsis is evil. Not Giovanni "I want all the money" evil, no, Ghetsis put up the entirety of Team Plasma just as a cover-up for his own goals. Now that's that I call pretty damn evil xD And, of course, he has the Shadow Triad. Anyone who has a trio of ninjas working for him is instantly evil :)

Meanwhile, N is just a really intriguing character from beginning to end. I don't really have to explain this one anymore, it should be pretty clear by now. And the posters above explain it fairly well too.

I kinda like Colress as a character, but he never really stuck close to me as an important person.

Ghetisis... I thinks this mans story and motivation are just so well written. He is so EVIL!

I have a legit fear of him. He is just horrible person and pure evil.

Easily one of the best written villains ever.

I personally like all three, for different reasons:

N is the boy that has been mislead his whole life. He's went through misery, and Ghetsis abused that. However, N learns, and he soon changes his ways.

Ghetsis is just pure evil. He was terrifying in the games, had the music to back up that statement, and genuinely had some dark twisted plots. Giovanni, eat your heart out!

Lastly, Colress is the scientest who will do anything to unlock a Pokemons true potential, even if it means using team Plasma for that. But he figures out that it's a trainers bond that makes a Pokémon stronger. Let that be a lesson to HM slave users!

I really liked N because a of the three of them, he isn't a delusional sociopathic moron who tries to control the world. N was literally a puppet, but what I don't understand is why he didn't stand up to Ghetsis when he had the chance.
But once N admits Ghetsis is his 'father,' the one thing going through my mind was 'WTF?!'
I agree, but instead of liking Ghetsis, I want to smack him. But admittedly, he's brilliant. In his own way, I mean, but he's still delusional either way you look at it.

I really adore N because he truly, genuinely cares for Pokémon even if it could be seen as the wrong way to go about them; stealing them and letting them go. What if they were very dependant on their trainer? They wouldn't be able to survive for long in the wild.

As for Ghetsis, I really don't like him and he was the one where I had most difficulty fighting against. His Eelektross was just tough to beat, immune to ground type moves. *waggles fist in anger*

For Colress, I like his design but other than that I don't really pay attention to him... :/

Honestly, I liked N the most.

Ghetsis just seemed to be an @$$hat, and he was really crazy. In terms of battle strength, however, he was by far the strongest initially.

As for Colress, he just reminded me a bit of some hardcore players: only seeking out the "perfect" Pokémon. While that's all good because it's a game, but the same can be said about having fun because it's a game. I don't know, he rubbed me the wrong way.

N was the most genuine "evil" character in the series that I can think of besides Maxie or Archie.

N is definitely my favorite. He's one of my favorite Pokémon characters in general, and he had the most growth and change throughout the story. He went from a naive boy who hated humans and was being used by his father figure, to growing and learning to accept that not all humans are bad, and starting his own journey to learn about the world. I also liked how he had a legendary Pokémon accept him, that was honestly one of my favorite moments in the BW games.

Ghetsis in general is a total asshole, and I really hate him as a character. In a good way, though- he's just genuinely dislikeable, but he's still a solid character, haha. His team is very threatening in both games, and his complete manipulation of Team Plasma just to try to rule Unova was totally underhanded and evil on his part.

Colress is an interesting character, and is a 'true neutral' character, I guess. I'm kind of neutral about him myself- I neither love nor hate him. He does have an interesting design and team, and it's neat that he just joins Team Plasma to essentially use them to help him search for true power.

I like Ghetsis because he's so evil, he didn't need some backstory for his actions. It was interesting to learn about him.

I found N a bit annoying? But he was mislead and raised not knowing anything outside what Ghetsis wanted, so his immaturity and such is understandable.

N is my favorite antagonist while Ghetsis is my favorite villain.

Let me explain; an antagonist is a character whose goals oppose the heroes'. Many assume that antagonist and villains are the same, but they aren't. N is innocent, naive and determined. In black/white, you see him change and go through a character arc of his own and his is confronted by the truth.

Nintendo outdid themselves with Ghetsis. Colress, Cyrus and every other one of the villains don't hold a candle to him. From a writer's POV, Ghetsis is a great character. Why? Because he made us, the players, feel real emotion.
I hate the guy, but I could wax poetic about his character. This is not cheap sympathy for N, and that's what I love.

N ALL THE WAY! What a cutie pie <3 Dude knows his math and i suck at math. But really N is more calmer and not evil to be antagonist of the series which makes it great cause he was innocent the whole time....

    Ghetsis was really intimidating for me and at one point I had a pretty intense hatred of him. He's awful and as such is the most fitting leader of a villainous team in general for me. I like N and Colress as characters, but Ghetsis fitted his role almost too well. To be scared of a few pixels is pretty big and he managed to pull that much off >_>;;

Ghetsis for sure. He had (imo) the best villainous look, and the most challenge (you weren't expecting that final battle with him in BW). in BW2, he wasn't so challenging, but not terribly easy at the same time. Colress was a pretty good sidekick, not the biggest fan though.

As for N, never did take him seriously. His motives were based more on emotion rather than reason, which I despise with just about any video game character.

N is my favorite design-wise and I felt like he progressed most as a character. Not just out of the three choices in this thread.. but out of pretty much the entire group of Pokémon antagonists to date, dare I say. He was one of the main reasons I loved Unova so much and the entire plot of B/W gave me goosebumps, especially towards the E4 when his castle rose out of the ground. The bond he formed with the protagonist moved me in many ways - sometimes in my head I still wonder whether he found said precious friend in B/W2 when he disappeared. Even though I know that's me, heheh.

Colress is also a great character and I love him to pieces. He's a crazy mad scientist who brought a lot of depth to B/W2 to make up for N's loss. So these two are my favorites even though Ghetsis fits here very well, too, with how insanely evil he was. Bah. Unova was awesome.

I love Colress... I had an obsession with him when he was introduced. XD I liked N some what and not really liked Ghetsis. I love the way Colress acts in the game but not in the anime. He acts too evil for my liking.

I love all three of these characters, but I'd have to say I love Ghetsis && N the most. As Sheep said, the bond created between the protagonist && N is something I hold close to my heart, as it's very moving-- more moving than any other friendship in any Pokémon game (Although the relationship of May && Brendan in the newest games was rather cute).

I love Ghetsis due to his ability to manipulate. He blinded N for years. && He took so much pride in it when he finally admitted to N that he'd been lying to him all these years. The total change of personality towards his 'son'. . It's incredible && makes me want to delve into Ghetsis's character all the more. He's one of those characters I just wish there was a little more on.

N's great because, in a way, he's easy to relate to. A child trying to prove himself && make his parent proud. While he did act on his own a lot, I do believe N was heavily influenced by Ghetsis until the very end, until that bond was broken. I just super want to learn more on their relationship. Imagine how N felt after the events of B/W, how he must have felt due to the betrayal of his father figure. It just saddens me. B/W had some really deep characters.
