N is an important rival and major character in Pokémon Black & White. What did you think of him, his character, and his story? Did you enjoy his development?

Alright, not gonna lie, 11/12 year-old me was infatuated with N and his moldy green hair. Black was my first Pokémon game and I had never heard of the concept of “Pokémon liberation” before, so of course I thought he was really deep or whatever  Anyway, N seemed like he really cared about the player character and so I actually sympathized with him for the majority of the game, although I would’ve never liberated my own Pokémon.

I really enjoyed seeing a well-developed rival—in my opinion, Bianca and Cheren were also well-developed and I highly enjoyed the BW storyline.

I like Pokémon Trainer N a ton. I played through Pokémon White recently for the first time in years, and I saw his character and the development. It's honestly a step above what Pokémon usually does. The moment when Ghetsis lectures him at the end of the game really hit me. N pretty much stops talking, showing how much his words hurt him. I didn't really understand him when I was younger, but I think that N is a deep character that makes Gen. 5 as special as it is.

Honestly I thought N was pretty stupid, but then I found out what his full name was and I more than understood why he went by the letter after that. Poor guy. xD

But, like every NPC in Pokémon, I didn't think much of him. He didn't appear often enough to really develop as a character, and whilst I didn't hate his character design, I can't say I was blown away by it. I also found actually battling him to be the height of hypocrisy, and whilst I understand it was necessary to fit into the general formula of the games and to actually give him so relevance, they should have found a better way to do it than just turning him into another rival-type character.

I preferred him in the anime, really. Episode N was the only part of the Black and White series I can say I didn't get too bored with watching.

As a child, N scared me. Especially his room and the creepy music. I always think of that whoever I see him and therefore has led me to be scared of him. But then again, his battle music is pretty good, and so is Emotion. (I honestly don’t remember much from the games tho)
I guess I have mixed feelings on him.
