Given the recent, harrowing events that developed in Paris over the last few days, this may be a hot topic for debate. At one stage the other day I witnessed the relatives of one of the deceased victims take centre stage in what looked to me like a lamb being fed to the hungry lions; a grieving brother at the mercy of swarming reporters and cameramen, all pining for their next big scoop.

Distraught, this particular brother, amongst his fellow grievers soon cracked under the media's glaring focus and wished that they conclude the press conference.

This dilemma therein raises a critical question; should the media take a far less invasive approach to covering public developments that resulted in the loss of human life? Are their frentic tendencies justified in such times where nations are gripped by fear?

Of course it should be far less invasive. That family is grieving and less than a day later, the media is already on the scene. The tragedy that a lot of people don't seem to understand is that the media is basically taking that person away from their family and giving them to the world because of the way they do it. Another example would be when Jason Cunningham died. As soon as the report was released, the media was at the parent's house. There were even some there at like 3 in the morning. It took cops on the scene to keep them from crashing through the yard. Then they pressured the parents to give a statement to the point where they finally gave one, after being told no numerous times. Sorry to go into a little rant about an event that was unrelated to what happened in Paris, but it seems like the reporters don't give a shit about anything anymore.

The ways they go about covering such a terrible incident is really quite awful and morbid when you think about it. The media has been known for it's pushy and selfish attitude, when really all it is supposed to be doing is bringing news to people. There is no need to be so intrusive sometimes, we don't need to know everything.
