How much do you care about natures and abilities when playing through Pokémon? What do you think about them and how do they affect the way you play?

At first, I never really cared for natures or abilities. However, I slowly became more invested in natures and abilities as the world of competitive play grew. I now try my best to get the "best" ability and nature for a certain Pokémon, in order to strength my team against competitive players. I really think they are useful since they raise the stats of your Pokémon and just make playing a lot easier.

Usually if I'm just playing the game, I don't care about natures. If I'm trying to raise a Pokémon's stats for whatever reason, then I'll start to care.

Abilities I care about a little more during gameplay. Sometimes I'll have to go out and catch another Pokémon if I wanted No Guard and got a Guts, or wanted Rock Head instead of Sturdy.

In normal playthroughs, no, I don't really care. Unless it's a direct hindrance (Modest Axew? Really game?) I usually won't care.

Competitively, I try to get whatever I think is best for the Pokémon, or set/spread I'm using,

I didn't really care so much when they were first introduced (in fact, I didn't even know what natures did when I played Ruby); however, over time I've gotten more concerned with my Pokémon having decent natures (neutral natures are fine, natures that raise the Pokémon's dominant attacking stat (or don't lower it) are good, etc.) and good abilities. Competitive-wise, I make sure the natures and abilities are perfect.

    Playthrough, I don't even care.

Competitive, so 100% worth getting it right.

When I am just playing through the game I don't really care. But if it is competitive then I care a lot.

When i start the game i don't care for the nature and ability, i just usually play the Pokémon as i catch it.

Then after finishing the story and post story, i start getting Pokémon with right ability and nature for the competitive.

When i play the game itself i toss natures to the wind. I do focus a little more on their abilities because they can be very helpfull during gameplay. When playing competitive however i focus on both intently.

In competitive - all of this needs to be perfect. In game, I can deal with lame abilities but I do want the best natures possible. I don't want ones that lower stats that I need.

I don't care about natures a whole lot if it's just a for-fun playthrough, but I personally don't like using a Pokémon that has a really bad nature. Neutral natures are fine, but I don't like using a Pokémon if one of its best stats is hindered by its nature. If it's a Nuzlocke or other such challenge I will ignore that, but just for normal playthroughs, I do pay some attention to the nature.

I never really got into competitive WIFI battling, so I didn't take much of an interest in natures.

Abilities, though, slightly affected my gameplay. Magma armor was definitely a must-have for breeding.

I don't care for abilities or abilities unless they hinder a Pokémon in normal play. If it's something like Stall/Klutz/etc., I'll catch or breed another. I absolutely can't use a bad nature, though. I don't know why, but I just feel weird about it. It's like it's morally wrong for me to keep using it. Some deep psychological stuff, probably.

Of course, competitive is a whole different case, but in regular playthroughs I really don't care all that much. Maybe I'll catch a new Pokémon if the Ability really sucks, and the other one is amazing, but probably not. If the Nature of a caught Pokémon turns out to be good, I'll be happy, but I won't be disappointed if that is not the case.

In a normal playthrough, I don't really care. If I start building a competitive team, however, I will not go without the right natures and abilities.

In a normal playthrough I don't care at all, I just catch something and use it (or put it in the pc xD)

And of course this is different in competitive, in competitive you can't win if you don't make your Pokémon the strongest they can be.

I don't care much when going through the main story. The only time it'd bother me is if I got an ability that lowered my Pokémon's best stat, like adamant on a Gardevoir, but even then it's something I can overlook if I don't want to spend time looking for others. I end up boxing my story Pokémon post-game anyway and breeding good ones so it's no big deal at all. [:
