The wolf roared before sending the back of his paw into the knight, sending him flying into a tree. He then pursued the dragon who turned to flee as Neil ran back to the area, shouting, "Oh my god! He really did come to the village!"
"And... that monster's chasing him!" Annie could only stare in horror. "This is bad. This is very, very bad! Oh god...!"
The baby dragon spotted Annie and leapt into her arms as Neil gulped, "Oh no, that knight's nearby, too. What if he thinks the wolf and dragon are allies?"
Annie manages to catch the dragon in her arms, but then notices the monster wolf was now headed straight for them. "Uh, Neil, I think we've got bigger problems...! Run!" Oswell tries to get up again, using his sword as a pillar to lift himself back up to his knees. The force of the blow he took made him cough and sputter, but he wasn't down for the count just yet. He immediately notices the wolf had stopped attacking him, and was now going after... two children. He got up, despite his injuries, and chased after them as fast as he could.
As if that was not enough, both sets of parents noticed their kids missing and were now searching for them. Neil's mother spotted Oswell and ran over to him, asking, "Sir, did you see my son, Neil? He has brown hair and yellow eyes!" All the while, both teens were chased all the way toward the canyon, specifically a cliff side as Neil groaned, "Oh no," the wolf snarling at them and breathing heavily.
"Yes, but there's no time to explain," Oswell booms. "Get to safety, now! I'll find your children and bring them back safely." Before anyone could get in another word, he continues after the wolf in pursuit, all the way back at the canyon to see the wolf had cornered them at the cliffs edge. He was too far away to help in time...! Annie, clutching the dragon, glanced behind her down at the cliff. It was a long way down, and the wolf looked restless. But then she remembered something. She looked down back at the hatchling, who was shaking in fear. She suddenly got an idea. "Neil," she said, her voice shaking. "Do you trust me?"
Neil blinked and replied, "Um, yeah. What did you have in mind?" the dragon looking up at the girl and shaking himself like an actual head.
"Okay, this is gonna sound crazy," Annie said, not taking her eyes off the monster, who was beginning to close the distance between them. "But... we're gonna jump. And whatever you do, don't let go of me, got it?"
Neil bit his lower lip and said, "Okay," jumping off the cliff along with her. However, something strange happened. The dragon let out a loud belch as a black smoke emerged from his mouth. As if that was not enough, that smoke formed into a flat disc-like object shaped similarly to an eagle, the object flying under them and stopping them from falling. Neil stared at the dragon and uttered, "Did you know you had that in you?" the dragon giving him a confused look.
Annie let out a sigh of relief. "...I was hoping that would work," she muttered. "But I'm... not about to risk doing that again..." Meanwhile, all Oswell saw were the two kids presumably jumping to their deaths. In a fit of panic and rage, he rushed forth right behind the beast, who was distracted looking down over the cliff, and brought his blade right down on the beast's back.
The wolf howled in pain but managed to shake off the pain enough to swing around and knock the knight slightly away from him. As such, the dragon squeaked in panic and flew the group over to the knight, Neil asking, "Hey, um, sir, are you okay?" the dragon equally concerned.
