Actually, I see sentient AI becoming a bigger and bigger theme in our current and future technology. I'm sure everyone's heard about the big ones like facebook's AI's talking to one another so I'll leave that and other well known AI stuff out of my description. In my field, I constantly hear the term "machine learning." We use machine learning for doing a lot of the tedious labor that would take 300+ hours to be completed by humans. I see people using these machine learning algorithms everywhere in my field. Not to mention, they are the hot new thing in business. People everywhere are taking about Machine Learning, which for those of you who don't know, its teaching a program to learn what is and what isn't, basically AI. Even though people don't want to say its AI in time, AI will be in a lot of powerful places in the next couple of years.
