When it comes down the graphics, do you like the new style or do you prefer the old? I really like the new style, easily beats 2D for me. It just looks so much better, more realistic and it really seems to pop out.

For me, im really gonna have to see it in action first. I love 3d but Pokémon has always held that classic 2d appeal for me.

Well, I played pokepark 2 and the graphics are superb... but the 2d sprites of the classics are also cool for me so... I dunno. They're both cool, I guess...

    This.

Though I would absolutely love if the 3D graphics used the Pokémon Stadium versions of the 1st and 2nd generation Pokémon. That would be a real nice nod to veterans. :P

I'm a fan of the change, even though I can appreciate the old sprites. Some people don't like cel-shaded graphics but I feel it will work well for Pokémon, it's stylized and ages better than 3D graphics of say, N64 quality. What I'm interested in is the shiny Pokémon. I'd like to see the shinies not simply be recolors with a sparkle at the beginning of battle but have an actual shine to them.

I like the 3D graphics, but the switch to models means that there isn't going to be any sprites-just fan-made ones.

I agree. Sprites were the main embodiment of the dreams of wanna-be Pokémon designers. Now if they want to make avatars that-could-be, they have to take up 3D modelling rather than just MS Paint.

Perhaps they will still use sprites for the little images on the "Pokémon" menu where you view the Pokémon you keep with you, only more detailed than previous games.

Aren't they awesome? Even though the black and white games were almost entirely rendered in 3D, they still had a few sprites in the overworld and the camera was always bird's eye. Now you can move the camera around at your level.

There's only one car, but that's a step up from walking everywhere.

Also, since there's a Roselia statue, I'll take that as an indication that X and Y won't be like Black and White and pretend the previous generations didn't exist until you beat the Elite 4. The prior five generations will make appearances in pre- as well as post-game battles.

3D, the graphics look so amazing from what we've seen of X and Y. I also am a big fan of the cel-shaded art style, I think it makes things look crisp and colorful.

Actually, I believe Hoenn did the same thing.

Graphics-wise, I love it. Although I do love toying around with sprite editing, I think this is a nice change. The art style looks a bit drastic, however, and I'm still debating on that one. (although not too far from gen5, but still a bit of a shift) In all, everything is very different from what it used to be, but most definitely in a good way!

Definitely a big fan of the 3D here, although I'll miss the good ol' sprites too.
But 3D just looks better. And everything in the overworld is so detailed, like wow.

Also with the new animation, we get diagonal movement--I can't get over how exciting that is!

And the 3D battle animations are great too!
(Although hopefully there's still an option to disable them? I know watching the same animations over and over used to be rather dreary/time consuming when training sometimes. v_v)

I assume they will let you, there is always a function to turn battle scene off.

I wonder if these new games will go further than that and produce sprites as well? It seems a bit far fetched, but I keep thinking that maybe we'll be able to switch from 3D battles to sprite battles. It would only require sprites of this new generation, since previous generations already have theirs.

Or maybe there'll just be a 'view sprite' function in the Pokédex.

IF and only if this was true, maybe people could get a hold of X&Y sprites.

I've been waiting for another 3d adventure from Pokémon for years. XD and Colosseum were a blast.
Then I recently got into the Pokepark games which have amazing 3d models in them. Like, their worlds, despite being small are really beautiful and well done.

So I voted for the 3d.

So far with what has been shown, the game definitely looks really beautiful and well designed. The cell shading style is a nice touch as well as the addition of cars and such. I'd love to actually make October to hurry it's butt over so I can play the game. -u-

I like the new 3D style, the graphics are actually better than I expected! The battle sequence looks cool and the backgrounds/terrains look great too.
I'll miss the old 2D sprites, though.
