What is your team made up of when you start in a new region?

With the release of X and Y right around the corner, all of the Pokémon fans in my town have started discussing what team they think they will have. Most of them say that they will stick to the old Pokémon, and possibly use one or two of the new. Some say the opposite. So will you use mostly new or stick to the old ones?

I personally use new Pokémon when a new region is released and plan on doing this in X and Y. I may include one old Pokémon (absol probably for his mega evolution, not the kanto starter) but let the other five be all new Pokémon. I think that using the new ones makes the game fresh, as you have to learn the strengths of each Pokémon. Plus I just love all the newly released Pokémon!

I've only ever used Pokémon from new regions as I don't have any way to trade Pokémon from one game to another.

I love the older Gens, but If I want an old first gen team, I get a first gen game. My team will be made of the new Pokémon, with a exception for Bulbasaur. I just think having a gen 1 or 2 team in gen 6 defeats the purpose. I think a party should have 75% new Pokémon and 25% older Pokémon. That is my thought.

I'll probably use many new Pokémon through the game this time around, ending in a mix of new and old. I'm eager to try out the new ones and see what I end up liking, but the favorites will never die. Any post-game dream team will most certainly be a mix from multiple generations.

Basically what Doima said above. I'm mixing new and old for this team. Using the Kanto Starters, hopefully Gardevoir will be available in-game with its new Fairy-typing, and the Torchic from the event. On my second run through, it'll definitely be a different game, but on the first I'm looking just to get through the region of Kalos with some Pokémon I already know. Test the waters a bit.

I am not sure what I would do.
I'll pretty much train Pokémon that I feel like training. Whether or not they're cool looking or are useful to the situation that I'm currently in. So I'll probably have a mix, like usual.

I'll probably use mostly new Pokémon. It really depends on what and when Pokémon are available to catch. I still haven't decided if I'm going to use whichever Gen 1 starter I choose (probably Bulbasaur).

i always do a first run through of a new game with only new Pokémon you can catch in-game and then worry about actual team building with other/older Pokémon and breeding/etc. afterwards. i like to enjoy the game purely to start.

I always focus on the new Pokémon and X/Y will be no different. The only non-gen 6 Pokémon I plan to have is Charmander.

As much as I like to use new Pokémon, I always end up with some oldies (provided they are available in-game). Depends on the situation and the designs though, like Banshee said. I always use Sableye for Brawly in R/S, but I replace it with Machop after that.

I use all new Pokémon for a region. That was the case in Gen 5 at least, because that was all that was available at first.

In my Silver days, my team was pretty much a combo Gen 1 and Gen 2. I recently got and beat Platinum but given the fact I have never played R/S/E, I couldn't really tell you if I was using Sinnoh exclusive Pokémon all the way through or not. A couple Hoenn Pokémon may have snuck in and I'd never know.
