Do you? If so what are some of your favorites?

On "official" playthroughs of the games I never nickname anything, I like seeing the official names all the time. It actually used to really bug me how in-game trade Pokémon had dumbass names all the time, especially if they were a Pokémon I wanted to use.

Though on random ROM playthroughs I usually do. On a recent Blue version game I named Squirtle 'Pisslizard' and Tentacool 'Penetrator'. Oh, aren't I clever..
Overall though I have to say I prefer not having nicknames over having them.

I got goldfluff the shiny altaria and darkmagnet the shiny magnezone... neither of which are very good. I generally suck at nicknaming
Example for Platinum Playthrough: Spiky steelix, Thorny roserade, Twintail floatzel, Forktail espeon, and Ssalsorf Frosslass.

I never nicknamed my Pokémon. I'm pretty bad at coming up with creative names for anything so I just leave them as they are :(

I always nickname my Pokémon, I try to think up the best names possible. I don't understand why people give their Pokémon human names when they could give them cool ones!

I love nicknaming my Pokémon--I draw on anime characters, game characters, Disney characters, other American cartoons, the Pokémon world itself, and foreign words for ideas.

    Some examples from BW 2:

Washi the Braviary (Washi is Japanese for "eagle")
Ariel the Vaporeon (after Disney's mermaid)
Hunter the Arcanine (after the wisecracking cheetah in Spyro the Dragon)

sometimes i nickname and sometimes i dont. if nothing pops out at me i just leave it be. the names i come up with are whatever words i first think of, or the first unusual name i think of.

    example. sunkern - buns
    trubbish - pooter
    herdier -rayzi
    lucario - finn

    etc etc

i ALWAYS nickname my Pokémon, sometimes I even go back and rename some that I gave crappy names XD
I'll usually either pick something to do with the Pokémon, or some word related to it in a different language. Or just a foreign name that means it's element.
Though un-used Pokémon usually get the joy of having a derpy name.

Well, before I discovered the Nuzlocke challenge, I never nicknamed my Pokémon. But now, I nickname every single Pokémon I catch.
I usually name them after whatever comes into my mind at the moment. And sometimes I use the random name generator if I run out of ideas.

It actually really bothers me when my Pokémon aren't nicknamed?? The only Pokémon that I don't nickname are the legendaries, because they are already pretty sweet without the added badassery of a cool nickname. Well, my nicknames aren't actually that cool because I'm kind of dumb and force myself to make names using only the letters in the Pokémon name... but I do get results I like sometimes, such as Otto the oshowott and Luppi the piplup.

same goes for me. i really don't understand when pokemons aren't nicknamed. it's like calling ur dog "dog" or cat "cat". well that's my opinion but i think it's the same.^^"
and legendaries doesn't have to be nicknamed because technically it's the only one in the world so no one other trainer should't be that named Pokémon in the game. or that's what i think. and they're already cool so... :3

    Edit: sorry my grammar^^"

Well, to be fair, I only nickname Pokémon when they are going to be in my team. And sometimes I don't, or sometimes I don't think they'll be in my team and use them for some time, then decide I'll use them for my team and name them :P

I even nickname HM Slaves :D

    My newest team (FireRed) was-

Ray the Scyther - He's the Mantis Pokémon, Mantis made me think of Ray
Bloodclot the Kabutops - It sounds rather deadly and suits a terrifying being such as Kabutops, don't you think?
Husky the Arcanine - When I caught him I struggled for a name. Only after trading him to Platinum did I realise I should've named him Clifford.
Terravolt the Electabuzz - Interesting story with this one. I wanted to name her after a legendary, so I looked up the Japanese names for Electric Legendaries and found that most of them were just the same as the English. Whilst checking out Zekrom's, I saw his ability and stuck with that 'cause it sounded pretty cool.
Cosmo the Clefable - Clefable is from outer space, cosmo is related to space or something, idk.

I agree. I'm not a huge fan of the nicknames... Mainly because I can never think of any good ones. In Pokémon SoulSilver [the game I've been dedicating most of my time to recently] I don't have a single Pokémon with a nickname.

I nickname mine in-game. Unless it's Lucario or Absol. Their names are too cool to change. I named my favorite Dragonite Dennis c: My shiny Politoed is Gumdrop, Vanillite is Nilli, and my Flygon is Suna. Those are just a few of the ones I've nicknamed, though.

I never nickname my Pokémon, unless I need to get their happiness up for evolution or the move "return" and even then I just nickname them the name they already have. The only exception is my flying slave which is nicknamed "Zephyrcent" which means "one hundred winds".

You have a point, but I must admit, even though my dogs and my guinea pig have a name I still just call them "Dog" and "Guinea Pig". I never really call them by their actual names, so it doesn't really make a differance for me. xD

I usually give nicknames to my Pokémon, they make me grow attached to them. One of my favourites is my first Hydreigon called Talisman. Some of the nicknames I give don't have anything to do with the Pokémon but they just sound nice or fit them. For example, my entire team in HeartGold is named after D.Grayman characters.

Try to keep my nicknames related to the Pokémon's typing or theme. Galvantula - Spark
