There is going to be a new Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 3pm PT! It is confirmed they'll be talking about 2019 switch games, including Pokémon Sword and Shield and Luigi's Mansion! You can check your region times here. What do you guys think will be talked about? Are you looking forward to anything in particular?
I’m hoping there will be more coverage on Rune Factory 4 Special, since there still isn’t a release date outside of “2019.” On the Pokémon side of things, I hope they’ll show more of the soundtrack as well as the evolutions for the starters.
The usual stuff. The new Pokémon games, their tory, soundtrack etc... Though, I wonder what the special something will be that they have in almost every direct!
The "2019 Switch Games" thing is pretty interesting to me...I feel like this direct will be pretty indie-focused, but I don't know how that differs from regular directs since my memory isn't the best. They've already confirmed we're getting stuff on Luigi's Mansion 3 and Sword and Shield, which is nice, but I highly doubt they would take up the full 40 minute air time or whatever it is. The only other Nintendo game that's releasing this year is Link's Awakening, which I remember having a pretty decently-sized bit at E3, although I wasn't paying much attention to the direct there because I don't play LoZ. As far as I know that game's a remake as well, but correct me if I'm wrong on that front. I doubt that they'll reveal any new games at this direct, or at least none that are first-party. They tend to reveal games many many months prior to them releasing for exposure purposes, and I can't see them changing that for one direct because of how little sense it'd seem to make. The one exception I could think of would be some spinoff, but even then I dunno. However, they could end up doing something with DLC. I'm confident that they'll show off a bunch of stuff with Banjo and Kazooie in Smash tomorrow, and they could very well show off one new character as the big reveal. Since it likely won't be a new game, the one thing that I think would be better for that spot would be a huge DLC pack for Super Mario Odyssey or something in a similar vein to the Octo Expansion. I know a lot of fans' biggest complaint with Super Mario Party is that it had too few boards, so maybe they add more of those? Anyways, those are just my somewhat uninformed thoughts. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of this, I only recently started tuning into Nintendo Directs (my first one was March 8th, 2018, and I've missed quite a few) so I don't expect to have a perfect understanding on what they tend to be like.
My greatest hope for any Direct is news on my favorite franchises: Super Smash Brothers, Fire Emblem, and Xenoblade Chronicles. If news comes for any of these, then I'm content! Other than that, I would really like to see some starter evolutions for Pokémon Sword and Shield. My excitement is pretty low right now, and being interested in the starters will do me a lot of good. Other than that, there aren't any games that I'm looking forward to much at all until next year.
I’m excited for today’s direct! I don’t really mind what they show about Sword and Shield, I’ll be fine with it. I also hope to see some news on the new Animal Crossing game.
