With Nintendo's console codenamed NX being revealed as Nintendo Switch, there is definitely a lot to talk about.

Some points of discussion to get us going:
    • The battery life being rumored at around 3 hours
    • The only console of this generation to have Nvidia tech inside
    • It being a handheld-home console hybrid
    • Modular design scheme and possible upgrades/accessories
What're your impressions of this console coming March 2017?

Hearing it has such short battery life saddens me, but other than that, I think this console will be amazing O_O
It would be really cool to have a home and a handheld console combined like this (especially with the possibility of continuing the game by transforming the Switch into a handheld and continuing to play like that). I sense this might become a major gaming console with huge sales!

screw my after-graduation trip, I know what I'll be spending my money on

It seems to me like they are trying to evolve 3DS and Wii-U at once. The battery life is pretty short if it's going to be 3 hours however that would just be upgrades in the future for them. You know, Switch (X) the same way as there are multiple types of 3DS system.

The third party support announced is awesome and really gets me interested. If Final Fantasy XV gets a released on there I am totally sold. However I'm not going to buy one at launch. I never buy a console at launch. Slightly dated educational cartoon time

But yeah I am interested in it, Switch is neat.

Sure was, the huge third party support is really what is winning me over. The list of developers is pretty damn large.

To be honest guys, the 3 hour battery life isn't that surprising. Power technology hasn't really kept up with the rest of the technological world ever--the best way to extend battery life is to reduce usage, or simply add more batteries. The lesson here is to keep a charger nearby, and don't expect to be playing in the car forever.

Yeah, I learned that lesson really hard with the 3DS. That was a complete cluster.

As someone who likes to be able to easily move from place to place in my house when playing games, I am really looking forward to the Switch and the potential of its games library.

All i can say is the switch will be my first console ill actually buy on my own and even though the battery life would be low i'd mostly just play it at home anyways and im sure even if you take it on the go there would probably be some way of charging it as you play on the go so would just be the same concept as keeping your laptop continuously plugged in to charge while using it.

A new bi of info came in about it, there is no backward compatibility. No WiiU or 3DS games will be able to played on this system without the two screens. Honstly without that backward compatiiltiy I think I wont buy the system, since it would be pointless if I needed 3 systems to play the games I liked.

I find that a little surprising to be honest. I would have thought that Wii-U games would have been able to be played setting it up so the modular screen thingy acts as your Wii-U gamepad screen with the TV/monitor being well, what it is and always was. I can see why this would be a downer for some people. For myself this is not really an issue; besides the 3DS I haven't done anything these last console generations with Nintendo hardware.

Even if it's not backwards compatible maybe they'll at least (over time anyway) put effort into making a great virtual console library that includes original Wii games since they wouldn't have this built-in screen issue (and Nintendo could turn a profit on updated Wii-like motion controller peripherals for the Switch to cater to the motion functions of some of those games if motion isn't built into this from the start)
