The nintendo switch lite was just announced! I personally think it looks pretty cool! What we know so far: Real D-pad on left side Slightly smaller screen (5.5" vs 6.2") Same 720p resolution Slightly better battery life (no details yet) No kickstand Comes in yellow, grey, or turquoise Lighter than normal switch with joy-cons attached. No IR or HD rumble Will function with normal joy-cons for multiplayer/games that require motion. $199 price point Launch date September 20, 2019 Also, it appears a special Sword and Shield version will also be released! What do you guys think? Are you planning on getting one?
I probably wouldn't get it even if I hadn't bought a Switch already. I mostly keep mine docked so it can be played on my TV; and having the joy cons detach so that I have something like a controller is a plus. But overall, I guess this is nice if a Switch isn't within your budget and you think you'll end up taking it with you most of the time.
Probably not. I like playing my Switch on my TV more and docked mode isn’t available for this model. The D-Pad and better battery life sound great though.
It's still a little outside my price range, but I've always liked the portable systems, so I can see myself getting one in the future.
I've been planning on getting a Switch for a while now, and if I had one I'd most likely play it in handheld mode most of the time. I've heard of a lot of people that have issues with the Joycons, as well. I'd definitely consider getting one, as long as there aren't any major issues.
I've already got a very nice Switch, so not for me~ Even though I seldom use TV mode or detached joycons, and only do so when with irl friends, I like being able to do that! The lite colors look nice, I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I got a switch, so there's no point in buying a switch lite for me now. Even if my switch would break, I wouldn't buy the lite version, since I do enjoy the TV-mode a lot. Only thing I like about this thing is the price tag - but the removed features make this switch lite for me uninteresting.
I would get it only if the build quality of these attached joy cons are better than the current ones. Cause I’ve never had an issue of drift with a 3DS before, and I’ve played smash on it for a good long while. And if these are just standard joy con quality, then you should just go get the normal switch since you can just get a proper controller like the pro (which is way more comfortable to use with any game)
Even if my current Switch were to break, I could get the tablet only for less than $200, so I don't even this as being a replacement for me right now if mine breaks. That being said, if this came out a year ago, I probably would have bought this instead. However, nowadays, I enjoy playing on the TV more, so my interest is pretty low.
I already have a normal Switch so I have no need for another, and while I do normally play in handheld mode, I like having the variety that the normal Switch offers. Still, I guess it's nice that they're releasing this. Not a fan of the color options, though.
I don't understand why they'd make it, but I guess the answer would be "why not". I probably won't get it since I already have a normal one and I usually just plug it into the dock instead of going handheld.
(*Saw Switch Lite In The Video*) ... (*Just Ignore The Video*) Seriously, No Detachable Joystick? This Is Like Nintendo's Version Of PS Vita/ PSP.
If my family hadn't recently bought a Switch, we might get this one. I'm happy with the normal switch though, because I like the detachable controllers, and have never played it without it being docked to the tv. It seems like something my brothers would appreciate though.
As someone who plays exclusively in handheld mode and has a passionate hatred for the Joycons and a general disdain or lack of interest in the features removed, this sounds like it was made for me, and I have one preordered. That said, I am taking out console insurance on it, because I am extremely concerned about the quality of the joysticks. Joycons are absolute rubbish - where they don't drift, the springs inside the joysticks make aggravating clicks whenever you move them around, and if that happens with the Switch Lite it's going to be a major issue, because it's not like you can just take them off and replace them. I am hoping the build will be of a better quality as many of the features are removed and perhaps it is due to the design of the joycons themselves, but at the same time, I'm not taking any chances with it. ...plus I really like that blue one. It reminds me of my old DS Lite.
I kinda wish this would have come out earlier since I only play in handheld, this would have been something I would have seriously considered buying then. But now I already have a Switch and I don't wanna spend money on another or go through the hassle of transferring my profile.
I'll probably not get the system. Though I do appreciate the option for those who don't have the money for a regular Switch.
I'll be real. I'm glad I got my normal switch because it works perfectly. I don't need a personal hand toaster thanks you very much.
