    Back when the DS first came out, there was a popular game by the name of Nintendogs. I was OBSESSED with this game, spending all my free time playing with my virtual pet. You could give it toys, and do a bunch of other things. I believe they still make the games, but I don't play them any more. I have memories of playing with my cousin, and it taking FOREVER to send a gift. I actually left it for 10 hours, but nothing happened! (turns out it wasn't connected to wifi, haha).
