So, it turns out that the Virtual Console Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow games are compatible with Pokebank. You can also transfer THOSE Pokémon to Pokémon Sun/Moon (But not X/Y/ORAS). How is this relevant?

Well, I remembered that, as it turned out, Machamp gets Fissure via TM in Gen 1. And Machamp gets No Guard. Before, this would've been just a dream, but this changes it into a big possibility. Obviously, fun times are to be had with this, as people would definitly abuse this with Scarfed Machamps.

Smogon already has a clause that prevents the use of OHKO moves, but if VGC were to allow Pokémon from Red/Blue/Yellow, how would this effect the meta of this? And how would this effect any other Metas?

Well, you'd see more sturdy Pokémon in VGC. Also in the Battlespot (or it's copy), but other than that, I doubt that this alone would cause drastic changes in the metagame(s).

I guess that means we already know what Pokémon everyone is going to use in the metagame. I doubt Gamefreak will let this one slip though, so I think they'll change the game's code a bit in order to prevent such situations from happening.

Tbh I doubt SM will allow Pokémon Bank Pokémon in VGC. They were disallowed in Gen 6 too so I don't think they'll change that this time around. Otherwise we'd all have to run Talonflame lol.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility--Pokémon VGC has been stale for a few years until this season (and even that's a stretch to say it isn't stale this year). TPCi may allow Pokémon Bank, but I have to say that even if people start using NG Fissure 'champ, it won't cause a major shift in the gameplay. 'champ even with scarf isn't that big of a threat--especially since Kanga + Talon is a huge synergy threat even now. Maybe one or two major players will carry some mon with Sturdy, though I honestly doubt there'll be any major or minor changes to the metagame without some serious gimmicks.

I agree with you, but I still don't think they'll allow Pokémon Bank Pokémon. The reason why there's gonna be a new Gen is exactly because the games have become stale. I'm expecting a lot more new Pokémon to be added than in Gen 6 and a new Gen also opens up possibilities for new game mechanics. They could allow Pokémon Bank Pokémon for VGC (even though I highly doubt they will) but the reason for that would be something other than to prevent staleness in the metagame.

That's also true. That's a thought I had while reading @[member="Deltheor"]'s reply to the Pokémon Sun and Moon article thread. It's definitely something to consider.

Yeah VGC has never allowed Pokebank. I am curious to see if they'll force you to remove certain moves before transferring so that stuff like this doesn't happen.
