Yo! Hey, what’s happening with you guys? Say, I just want to know why you think that Ed Boon has always declined to include iconic guest characters from Mature-rated Japanese video game universes for the Mortal Kombat mainline fighting video game series, such as the Metal Gear universe’s Solid Snake, the Bayonetta universe’s Bayonetta, and Persona Universe’s Joker? Please let me know, thanks.

Well, tonally MK doesnt suit most of those series, Japan is especially hesitant against hyper violent games like Mortal Kombat to the point the newer games are often banned or rated thebequivalent of Adult Only, so Japanese devs would be hard pressed to actually offer a character to a series they would be ruthlessly slaughtered in.

I don't think that Japan really has many characters that would thematically fit Mortal Kombat. I suppose you could throw in something like Nemesis from Resident Evil or Pyramid Head from Silent Hill, but that's only if their rights holders would be willing to make the deal. The team behind Mortal Combat also probably have better relations with the American companies that own the characters that they have gotten licenses for than the Japanese companies who own characters like the ones I mentioned earlier.
