Starting in X and Y, you now begin the Pokémon games without the running shoes, you can already run. You don't need to have the running shoes to run anymore, making the beginning much faster.

What was your reaction to this change? Did you like it a lot?

    Let us know ;)

My reaction "FUCK YEAH!", that pretty much sums it up since I hated that you had to have reach a certain point to get them, although in RSE it was early but in LGFR it was after the first badge iirc.

Yeah it's also a lot more realistic because we can all run without special shoes! XD

It was very convenient! Nice to be able to go outside and just run away without needing to wait for special shoes. Definitely one of the better things they did and it does feel a lot more realistic. Who said I couldn't run with the shoes I had on now?!

Yep, it was a much needed change. I mean, call me silly, but I think that even for the Pokémon universe, the idea of being unable to run without a special pair of shoes is a little ludicrous.

I was very happy with it. I can now run inside and outside buildings without those dumb shoes.
I experienced how stupid the whole "don't run inside buildings" thing was when I played Emerald. Man, that was tough. I'm glad that is over.

It was a great change, but only one thing could make it better: the HGSS Auto-Run button. Then I won't have a dent in my thumb from holding down B

I was definitely happy that I didn't have to walk anywhere slowly from the very beginning. Because who likes to walk when they can run? A super convenient change.

I thought it was an amazing change! Granted that this probably only happened because of the introduction of skates. However, running at the beginning is definitely more realistic and broadens our horizons! Who needs running shoes when you can run in boots or barefoot!

I freakin' loved it! No longer would we have to just walk till we have our running shoes; we can run from the get go! Yeah! Love it still!

The running shoes felt a little redundant, so I don't mind their exclusion from the games now! I actually hadn't even noticed or remembered about them until seeing this topic, but I'm glad running is now an ability from the get-go as it should have been.

I've never noticed that the Running Shoes were gone, but that's because I am used to using them. Because of that, this change isn't all that special, considering that you'll almost always receive the Running Shoes at the beginning. Still, I do find it nice that I don't need to wait just for something that shouldn't really be an item in the first place.

Skating is so much more fun; I wouldn't go back for anything. Though it only really affected the first little stretch of gameplay, I'm glad this was changed.

I really like this, It adds a stretch of realism (unless you want to say the running shoes are actually like the R/S Manga ones and the speed at which you walk without them is normal running speed)
But yeah, it felt good to be able to run from the start

I remembered when I played Ruby for the GBA, it was very tedious to always switch to the bike, or press a button just to get my character to move faster, which was a bit silly honestly. But when I picked up my copy of Pokémon Y and noticed my character is already going at a decent speed was pretty awesome. I didn't have to press any buttons to make the characters go faster which was brilliant. (Plus when I got the rollar blades, it make everything change my perspective on the game.)

Nintendo you did a good call on that for sure.

I really liked it! I prefer the running shoes to the skates-- I often wish there was an option to take them off and still be able to use the analog stick as you ran. Like Karzarill said, it is more realistic to be able to begin the game being able to run. I mean, unless they were wearing stilettos in passed games, there shouldn't have been special shoes required for running!

I'm so used to pressing the B button to run.I liked the fact that you had a bicycle, but on top of that, Roller skates to make you go even faster than the running shoes~. Game freak finally understood us!
    I still miss it. >u<

This was actually really awesome. It is such a good feeling being able to run right away, and I'm so glad they allowed us to do it. It was about time, too!
