For those who do Nuzlocke runs, I was curious about something. Say you've got yourself a pretty good team thus far - all six slots filled and good overall type coverage - but then your next new Pokémon happens to have an ideal nature and ability. How do you determine if you're gonna use it or not? Would you put it on your team immediately, or save it for the inevitable case where one of your original team members gets 'knocked out'?
Since newer Pokémon tend to be a lower level and at a higher risk of dying, I would wait. Your objective is just to beat the game, so you might be able to do it without the good natured Pokémon. If it's a Pokémon you really want on your team I'd say do what you want, or if one of your current Pokémon dies, make it first in line to take that Pokémon's place.
If is got everything I desire in that pokémon (best nature and ability) I switch it out since perfect nature and ability means higher chance of survival in general and survival is all a nuzlocke is about so if I can cut my loses by replacing a team member with this good mon I will even if it means I have to do a lot of grinding to get it up on par with the rest.
I see. I've always been curious about Nuzlocke runs but too scared to do any myself (that and I want to use EVERY Pokémon I catch), so this was something that had popped into my mind.
If you wanna do a nuzlocke always start out without adding too many rules and be mindful of the natures your mons have even if is a one you like if is got a nature that's just horrible for it only use it as a last resort meaning all the good/acceptable options must be dead. Is really fun to do them, I pretty much only play nuzlocke runs after I've run through a game once since I enjoy doing it a lot and it keeps the games fresh for me. There's are some games that are better to run than others tho and I prefer running over others.
