Let's duke it out boys, battle of the giants: which of these two massive Zelda titles is superior in your opinion, and why?
Majora's Mask all the way. It's dark, weird, and I love the heavily implied themes of grief and loss. It makes the game seem so much deeper than Zelda titles usually are, without shoving it down our throats. I love the mask mechanics, and the world is just a lot of fun to explore.
I beat Ocarina of Time within a month of my mission/disappearance, and I loved it. However, I tried to play Majora's Mask, and I found that I could never really get into it! The masks were fun, and the game had a certain charm, but I never found myself wanting to beat MM like I wanted to beat OoT. OoT is the best for me, but I'm sure MM was better for some other people.
Impact wise and with how beloved it is Ocarina wins this easily. But I haven't played Ocarina myself, only seen it. I did play Majora however and I gotta say, I don't think there's a game quite like it. For me Majora is the better game purely on how different and special it is.
Well, neither of them was very good to begin with, and both have aged pretty badly... It was a long time before I played Majora's Mask, and I didn't get on with the time limit, but it was certainly more interesting than Ocarina.
I must say, the concept of Majora's Mask is much better than Ocarina of Time. Both had the songs, but MM also had the Masks and the three-day-loop. It really kept a player on edge, and was really just more fun - especially panicking over everything.
I played a solid thirty minutes of Majoras Mask and promptly gave up. It just wasn’t my thing. So I’m gonna have to go with OoT
