As I understand, they still have the same catch rate as ever. So combined with the fact that they are primal... I can imagine that its tough if you arent using your Master Ball. But I dunno, I might be the only one that thinks this.

I would say about 7/10 for difficulty. Primal Kyogre is pretty strong with its Origin Pulse move ( base 110 special water attack) that gets both a stab and rain boost. However, I managed to catch it with an ultra ball after only using 2 other pokeballs, so I was lucky perhaps. None of my Pokémon fainted from the battle, but yet again I had Pokémon in the high 50s and even then did they receive a significant amount of damage from Primal Kyogre's origin pulse move, so be sure to have a water type Pokémon handy, since it also has access to ice beam.

It took me many tries to catch it, but to actually lower it's hp was not hard at all!
It all depends on the ball you're using since I was using only pokeballs, but I know some people got it in 2 ultra balls.

Probably a 6 or 7/10. Wasn't easy, but not too difficult. Caught Kyogre in a Dive Ball

I managed to get a crit on Kyogre using Fly with a Swellow on the first turn, then caught it with a Nest Ball on the second, so a 1 for me. XD

On a scale of 1-10 when it comes to How difficult battling both Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre can be, personally i would rate the battle around 8.5 for a few reasons, one being there HP increasing moves. Groudon carries rest which essentially heals all damage and status conditions the Pokémon may have obtained prematurely to the moves usage, which makes it loads of times more difficult to lower Groudons health and keep it lowered. In Kyogres case Kyogre carries Aqua ring and 9/10 times usually uses it on the first turn the battle is initiated, which forces you to contentiously attack Kyogre around every 4 or 5 turns to lower its health down to a preferred level hence raising your chances of landing critical hits and knocking Kyogre out. All in all both Super Ancient Pokémon have their ups and downs to there selves when it comes to battling them in the games main storyline. In my Opinion im assured Nintendo-Gamefreak knocked the Legendary Battle out of the park when it comes to the battles overall difficulty, it may seem close to impossible, but with a little skill and a little luck you too can successfully catch the Super Ancient Legendary Pokémon!

    8.5 to 9/10

I had primal groudon and no masterball (couldn't find it...). He kept KOing my Pokémon except for my Latios. I would switch out and revive, using my Pokémon as cannon fodder basically. It took several tries but I got him! His abilty was a beast to deal with but once I figured out what it did (the hard way), I knew what to do. Still took FOREVER but I had longer battles with legendaries.

Groudon is still weak to ground types, and I had a Flygon on my team that I planned to lead with. Considering Groudon doesn't have much of an offensive moveset, my strategy was on a constant mix between using earthquake (to make it go to half health), do it again when it used rest, and started chucking balls at it. Groudon was caught pretty easily in the only Dusk Ball I had left, since I refuse to use the master ball, and it could not touch my Flygon at all. So with that I give it a 7.5 out of 10 on the toughness scale, only because I had to reset a few times because I accidentally KO'd it.

8-9 for Primal Groudon, I got pretty unlucky in that fight and it crit killed one of my mons and burned another, didn't make it better than I was doing a blindlocke run so the mons I lost were gone for good. I ended up not catching it until after the E4 since I knocked it out to avoid losing more Pokémon in that challenge. Even when trying to catch it after the E4 it was still a stubborn one and didn't wanted to stay in the ball.

6/10, maybe? It took me a while to capture Kyogre since it kept popping out of the balls but the fight itself wasn't too difficult. I'm stubborn and don't use Master Balls on Pokémon unless they're roamers or more difficult fights so I kept mine around until I encountered Deoxys given that it was lv. 80/had Recover (only to find out it could've been rebattled later anyway, sigh).

Primal Kyogre seems a bit easier to battle than Groudon, though, since Groudon's ability in primal form is waaaay better and you can't take advantage of its 4x weakness to water lol.

3/10 I was either really lucky or my team was too strong for Primal Kyogre. I sent out my Tropius to wall it and it was able to survive an Ice Beam. I caught it in a regular Poké Ball the first time but since it had an Adamant nature, I decided to SR for a better nature.

The second fight was a cakewalk since it only took about 3-5 turns for me to catch it. I was hoping that I could get it in a Dive Ball, but it was captured in a Great Ball and had a Timid nature so I just went with it. Aqua Ring was pretty annoying to deal with ugh

I didn't have too much trouble with them, Kyogre did take out most of my team though, I'll give it a 6/10

I caught Primal Groudon on the second Ultra Ball, and it even had Adamant nature! From what I've heard Primal Kyogre is the hard one, with all of it's healing moves. I think there is a way to prevent those, though.

Kyogre was pretty hard for me because it kept using aqua ring and healing itself back up too much :x Eventually I just gave up and used the master ball.
