In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the Dowsing Machine has two electrodes worn on the head that change colors as they get closer to the object. What's your opinion of this new Dowsing Machine?

Personally, I don't like it that much. It seems to only light up when you're facing in the exact direction of the hidden item, and it doesn't tell you what direction the object was in. I much preferred XY's.

I didn't actually use the Dowsing Machine... at all. I just like accidentally finding items. The one time I used it (to find the BlackGlasses) I found it annoying and difficult to use.

Hi agree it was much more difficult to use, I spent more time trying to locate items then it was worth. The only thing I like about it is when you where it in the desert. You look like some sort alien insect thing

It really didn't do it for me. I prefer the dowsing machine in gen 4 where it gave you coordinates.
The machine itself looks strange to me. Makes me think of volbeat. Personally, not my cup of tea.

I prefer gen 3 to this. At least you got a clue. I've been standing next to it, saw the light, accidentally moved,.and couldn't find it for a couple minutes (or that's how it felt. Time has lost.meaning unless i can see a clock)

I haven't noticed the real difference quite yet (though I haven't used the Dowsing Machine that much in general), but damn that thing looks ridiculous! It just looks so weird, and I can't get over it. Why did they decide that that was the best design they could possibly make? It's just weird...

I preferred it when the dowsing machine was on the bottom screen in the B/W series. But I honestly I didn't have trouble with it in XY or OR/AS at all, at least compared to others who have replied to this.
I do question their design choice in OR/AS though

I haven't used it much, but I don't really like it. It's difficult and annoying to use. /:

I can't stand it at all, sometimes I could be right next to the item and it makes me go around in a complete circle to get it. I find it inaccurate and pretty useless.

It's not easy to use, that's for sure, but finding hidden items shouldn't be easy in my opinion. I also think it looks hilarious XD

    The Dowsing Machine in these games confused me on numerous occasions since I just couldn't figure out where the item was no matter what direction I faced or went but overall it's been all right to use. The design was cute (lil' headband thing awe) but otherwise it was a pain to use more often than I'd like, though it's still not as bad as it could've been, oof. Glad I got most of the hidden items. ;_;

X's one is best IMHO :x It's way clearer where the hidden items are.

I found it difficult to use, and due to that I rarely used it. Unlike XY's one, which gave you a really clear indicator on where the item was, ORAS's one was annoying and frustrating.

I honestly loved the Dowsing Machine! Sure it wasn't the most accurate or straightforward thing in the world but it did its job, and it looked SO goofy and adorable on the player's head. I had it on all the time just because of that haha. It probably amused me a little too much c':

I think that this Dowsing Machine is the worst one ever made. It really just annoyed me because of how unhelpful it was compared to other Dowsing Machines, especially the one in Sinnoh.

I personally am pretty good with the dowsing machine. One time I stood in front of an item for an hour just watching the swirling antennae ;)

I could deal with it, I've found some decent items using it, but it does look ridiculous. It just kinda sucks that you can,t sneak up on Pokémon when using it, I had it on once in the middle of dex hunting, I needed to find a misdreavus, but I forgot I had it on and it took me ten minutes to get another misdreavus. XD

I've used the Dowsing Machine only occasionally since obtaining it. Almost right away, I found it cumbersome to use as when I would see it respond to something, I would move and the thing would stop working. I also find it annoying that you can't use it while on your bicycle at the same time.
