In general, do you prefer the original versions of songs or the remixes of songs? It can be any genre, and feel free to give examples.

I used to not like remixes of songs (especially of video game OSTs), but I’ve warmed up to OST remixes. I still usually prefer the originals over the remixes.

I dislike most remixes. Slapping a drawn-out electronic beat in between the verses of a pop song rarely sounds good. Video game remixes on the other hand are a different story. It’s always exciting to see a fan’s interpretation of a soundtracks. Especially if it’s from an older game with outdated synths.

It really depends I really do like some remixes of old songs but the original Pokémon Intro still gives me nostalgia trips.

Mostly I dislike remixes. I get really into music and remixes just ruin the emotion behind any given piece and replace it with electronic sounds. Only on very rare occasions can someone enhance or remake the theme to be something entirely unique and that's when I like a remix.

It really really varies. I am interpreting things like covers under "remixes" here and certain covers just sound better to me (huge bias for NSPs covers) For things like video game music I really enjoy orchestral covers and some remixes but typically they have to stay close to the original (GlitchxCity comes to mind here)

I like electronic music but not as a remix of something that wasnt originally.

I love remixes, often more so than the original. Most of the remixes I've heard so far expand on the original in a good way while just providing a new experience.
I mean, take the breakbeat remix from the Shadow Queen's second phase made by AcidNotation as an example. Would it have worked inside of the game? Most definitely not. But is it still awesome to listen to? At least in my opinion, it definitely is.
Another example that comes to mind would be the myriad of lofi/synthwave remixes I listen to. Especially the album "Legend of Synthwave" has had me hooked these past few days. Once again: I loved and still love both Mipha's and Sidon's theme, but the remixes just add a completely new layer while also keeping the original spirit, making them great to listen to.
Last but not least, I'd also like to mention Ender Lilies. While there aren't many remixes, the ones that do exist just expand on an already great soundtrack in a way that gives me goosebumps everytime. Good examples for this would be DK's remix of "Harmonious" and BoNeOfDeer141's rock remix of North, one of my favourite tracks from the OST.

Personally, I think that generally - there are so many criminally underrated gems out there! - the more remixes a specific track has, the better it is.
