As you probably know, Gen 1 got released on the EShop today for the 3DS, allowing old Pokémon to be traded to new games through pokebank and for people to relive their childhood...

    along with lining nintendo's pockets.

But with all this Gen 1 hype, you can easily forget the Chess-like game of Gen 2, The Easy tomplay Gen 3, the nostalgic Gen 4, and the stormy times of Gen 5!

So, what do you think of the other gens? Will they soon be forgotten? What do you think of an individual gen and its battling style? Tell me!

I've always been a huge gen four person. It hold a lot of the nostalgia elements most people relate to gen 1. I keep hoping and waiting for them to be remade, which with the announcement of the new games, might be closer than ever.

I'm one of the many people who joined Pokémon back in Generation 3, and although it isn't my favorite generation, it holds a special spot in my heart. On that note, I'm going to say that none of the generations will ever be forgotten: period. First off, I don't think that the fans would let that happen, and second, I don't think that GameFreak would let that happen. Each generation presents something new and unique to the Pokémon series, including many Pokémon, new game mechanics, new gym leaders, etc. Generation 1 was the first generation, and it established Pokémon's dominance, Generation 2 was an amazing sequel, featuring sixteen gyms and lots of fanservice, Generation 3 brought forth some of the coolest Pokémon ever while putting it in a cool 7.8/10 region, Generation 4 did everything right from story to new Pokémon to region design, Generation 5 brought forth the best story we've seen to this date, and Generation 6 put Pokémon in a beautiful 3d finish. I think even with Gen 7 approaching and several new Generations coming in the future, people aren't going to forget about these generations, ever. They are only going to be more treasured as time goes on.

Well, since we didn't forget about the first five generations when Kalos came out, I don't think we're going to forget about the six we have right now when generation seven comes out. Pokémon is a whole: all generations are important. After all, it's not like we've forgotten about those Pokémon either. I myself begun playing in Generation IV, but I have a spot in my heart for the three generations before that too.

Assuming that @[member="Bionic Puppy"] is talking about the competitive scenes throughout every generation so far (i.e. gen 1's mewbers, gen 2's introduction of hold items), I'd say that there certainly will never be a generation that is forgotten. Many people don't enjoy newer generations as much as the old ones, and it's often very fun and nostalgic to play the old competitive scenes.
For example, Smogon's SPL has multiple generations in their arsenal, which pays homage to past generations, and several people still play old generations in tournaments across the competitive Pokémon community as a whole. Several years of hard work and testing from older generation players are still being used to this day, and I don't see any of it dying out completely in the foreseeable future.

Yeah, they're making too much money of this to not keep making VC releases. The game's already made and VC probably just works with a built-in emulator, so all they need to do is add it to eshop distribution and bam! Money is being printed at Nintendo HQ.

I personally like Gen 2 more than 1 (two regions and sixteen gym leaders? yes please!) so there might actually be a *slight* chance I'll buy Silver on VC. With gameplay mechanics though, I do find it hard to play games from before the physical-special split, so I'd be most eager for SoulSilver (although since I own it on cartridge, I can't think of a valid reason to buy it again). I may have answered my own question above, but I wonder if they'll follow through with VC of the redux games too.
