Overrated Games.

It's an unpopular opinion but I think Super Mario 64 is overrated. Not to say it's a bad game because it's not...but overrated does not mean bad. That bears repeating because a lot of people can't seem to wrap their head around it: overrated does not mean bad. Just means it gets more praise than it deserves. I didn't care for Mario 64 or any of the 3D "collect x" Mario games. Glad they went back to the way I feel Mario works best, heading through level after level, world after world, no hub world or playing the same level 5 or more times with slightly different objectives. Good game but not as good as it gets talked up as far as I'm concerned.

FFVII is another game I think is overrated, and I'm a big FF fan. I enjoyed FFVII a lot too but it gets talked up as "the best FF there ever was" like nothing can match it when I think FFVI and IX blow it out of the water in terms of overall RPG quality.

 

Any Mario game is overrated, in my opinion. They get so much attention, but I've found every one that I've played to be boring. I know he's an iconic character and all, but I'm just not a fan.

 

I think League of Legends, I hear people are awfully rude on it, and that's not an environment I'd like to play in ^^

 

Ocarina of Time. Seriously I always see this game in a lot of peoples top favorites when it comes to video games, but it doesn't even scratch my top 100. Yes...it's a good Zelda game, but it just seems like everyone treats it like a piece of platinum. There are a lot of better games out there. Then again I can say this with any 3D Zelda game really. Again...they are great games, but they are all overrated to me.

 

I think Overwatch is pretty overated, not that it isn't a good game or anything it is fun to play with friends and is pretty well designed I think people hyped it up way too much for a game where you just basically run around shooting people in the same maps woth same characters. That being said I do enjoy the game like most people.

 

League is way too overrated. It may just be my lack of interest in MOBAs, but League is just a slow game in general and the game isn't nearly as amazing as everyone says.

Another good example is OoT. Pretty simple, great game and not denying that, overrated though.

 

So would Call of Booty Duty count from what I know? Also Sonic Boom is a deffo one. =w=;

 

I agree with these here--I'm a giant fan of Super Mario Galaxy, but very few other Mario games really caught my eye. New Super Mario Bros. DS was a great game to speedrun, but other than those three, I can't name a Mario game I love.

I also say Minecraft is completely overrated. I get that people like building and mining for hours and hours and hours, but certainly not me. I need a little variety, and I play games to see what stories other people come up with. If I wanted my own story, I'd write one.

 

Final Fantasy 7 & 10 and League of Legends in my opinion are overrated but i do play league myself i just know that it isnt all sunshine and rainbows that people make it out to be. The community in the game is pretty toxic so unless you dont mind just muting everyone you play with or never looking at the chat at all then you can have a good experience especially with friends and have an easier time learning to get better at the game.

 

I don't really think any game is "overrated" persay...well, there are plenty of high profile games and series that I don't think are really all they're made out to be, but to each their own, right?

That said, I didn't go much on those games that people typically tout as the "greatest" when I played them - I wasn't overly impressed by Ocarina of Time, FFVII, Super Mario 64, etc. I can appreciate what they did for the industry, and that for their time they were revolutionary changes, but they've long since been surpassed in my opinion...and honestly, I found their predecessors (A Link to the Past, FFVI, and Super Mario Bro. 3) to be much more enjoyable titles.

I also think Dark Souls, as a series, is nowhere near as difficult as people like to pretend it is.
