Let's face it, there are some very, very overrated shows and movies out there. The ones that people hype you up about and speak so greatly of, but when you go to watch it because everyone around you is praising it, your expectations are just not met whatsoever.
We've all had those moments, I'm assuming, and it's a pretty disappointing feeling that makes you never wanna talk about X show/movie again (at least, that's how it is for me).

To me, one of the most overrated movies ever was The Avengers.
I'm talking about the very first one, not any of the others because I haven't bothered to watch them.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not gonna lie and say it was a bad movie, because it wasn't at all.
But the amount of hype it received was extremely ridiculous in my honest opinion. Sometimes at school I couldn't go a single day without hearing about it and how awesome it was.
So one day, I'm at the mall with my dad and sister and we decide to go watch it, and I'm pretty hyped to see it of course. By the time I left the movie theater, I was left with an empty feeling inside. A type of feeling similar to saying "That was it...? But I was expecting so much more to happen...".
It made me feel weird, because I wanted to enjoy it as much as everyone else, but it just didn't happen.
I will admit, it did have it's moments, but overall it wasn't what I expected it to be.

As for TV shows, I have a whole bunch in mind, but I'll just go w/ the first one that pops into my head and say The Walking Dead.
I'm not sure what to say about this one. Zombies, great, everyone loves 'em.
But everything is just so... slow paced, I guess, that I don't get how people always get so excited to watch it every week.
I've tried watching it a couple times but just couldn't really get into it. I guess it's just not for me.

    Supernatural.
It was fun the first few seasons but now it's just boring, it's always them trying to one up Crowley and it's frustrating.
That last few seasons have been this.

I agree with the walking dead. It's a bit silly and I can't find my self attached to most of the big characters.

However my biggest one is, and I'm a little scared to say this for fear of a riot, doctor who. I used to like it, but the plot got really weird with the new guy. Plus the character turned into an ass. And plot wise, well it seems like they're running out of ideas

    Definitely agree on the avengers thing. It's actually one of those movies that I haven't managed to watch the whole way through on a second watching, despite being so enamoured by it upon it's premier. I like to think of said movies as somewhat casualties of the hype train. The ensemble movie was hyped so far up into the stratosphere that the sequel's story felt like a distinct step back. Now I did like Age of Ultron despite some aspects of the source material they editted for film, but in terms of story, it was far less cohesive. Hell, I'll even go ahead and make a bold statement;

With the exception of the marvel u movies released last year, the only film that I have liked consistantly upon repeat viewing was the first Iron Man. (special props to Norton's portrayal of Hulk, though! Ruffalo simply makes a mockery of the character IMHO, and yet the fans are clamouring for him...ugh)

I'm of the opinion that Marvel is aware of how good the Iron Man film was; simply compare its plot with this year's Ant-Man; snarky genius lead who partially mocks superheroes comes to blows with a bald headed iron monger (heh) industrialist with a festering inferiority complex who goes on to duke it out in a game of power granting exoskeleton fisticuffs (biiiit of a stretch but bear with me pls).

And now that there's a big shake up after happening over in marvel's movie creative thing, I kinda fear that we'll be greeted to more overrated (at least among the legions of annoying fans) cut-and-paste flashy action films who will only bear a passing resemblance to its source material.

I could take further potshots at disney but for now I'll stop haha.

As for TV shows......hmmmmm......Mayyyyyybe Prison Break? Lost, ofc. Idk, I don't watch a lot of shows and most of the ones that I do get cancelled anyway.
