Overwatch

I *really* don't know what to think with Overwatch. When I played the beta I became pretty convinced that I wouldn't be bothering with the main game. I eventually caved to peer pressure, but I still think it's just okay. And yet... And yet I can't stop playing it? It's frustrating more often than it's enjoyable and in order to win I'm forced into playing the same characters in similar styles multiple times. The maps aren't super interesting, either. But that said I'm playing it a lot and probably will keep at it so there's obviously something going on!

In terms of my favourite characters...

Mei, Mei is probably number one. She can win basically any 1-on-1 by freezing them and headshotting. Her wall is tricky but completely incredible in the right situation, cutting their team in half or blunting an offensive, or stopping them from resetting the Overtime timer. She has decent survivability and her ice cube is a good way to survive ults and so on. And her ultimate can be super solid for capturing points and so on, though it's a little lower key than a lot of other ultimates.

Roadhog is up there. Unless they can trap you and focus you, Roadhog is all but immortal. He has a huge healthpool, guzzles weird orange fanta stuff to top up. He churns out respectable damage and, the real reason I like him, he simply one shots squishy's with his hook. The one point I would make, though, is that he's not great as a team's sole tank, because he's more disruptive and less of a solid front line.

I also like playing Widowmaker, Lucio, Reinhardt, and Junkrat. There's others that are fun but I find less use for; I actually find the damage classes are way overplayed so I rarely pick them. I am a big fan of switching hero during the course of the game based on how things are going, I think that's an important skill to have.

I personally don't want to touch Overwatch. I've seen enough of both the TF2 and MOBA fanbase that I don't really want to dive into it. I never had so much fun with TF2, and the MOBA fanbase... ooooohhhhh boy. While I'm sure it isn't like that at the moment, Smite had a really amazing fanbase at the start until about 3-5 months afterwards when people started to get that elitist attitudes towards characters. I saw something about people already complaining about one character being broken during the Beta and all of Blizzard's response to those people being the exact same thing about picking like, 5 or 6 characters. The fanbase already seems kinda toxic in a Undertale or FNaF way rather than a League way, but I can see it also going into a League way...

I think it's going to be a very overrated game in the long run, and I don't feel like touching it.

So, I've been playing too much Overwatch. The characters are awesome, the community is (relatively) nice, and I have a real knack for the game!

My favorites gotta be Winston, Reinhardt, Zenyatta, Lucio, Mei, Bastion, Hanzo, and Reaper. Well, and Genji, but I can't play Genji very well...

Bastion in particular I love, mostly for his adorable backstory. He's also powered by SALTY TEARS, and therefore safe for the environment.

 

Oh yes, Overwatch, the 40 euro game I've played like twice because of sheer lack of time. I can't wait until my vacation, because I will not stop playing this game for even a moment. I really, really enjoyed the few times I did play the game, and of the heroes I have played I have to say that Mercy is my favourite by far. I'm not much of an offensive player, so I think I'll try to keep to the support heroes, but I have found that Widowmaker is also a lot of fun if you actually have a map where you can hide properly, unlike what I do because I'm really bad at everything. I'm hoping to get into some more offensive heroes when I get some more time to play, though! But until then... Heroes never die c:

 

Got the game yesterday. I've played a bit and I've come to the conclusion every character is good except Genji but Genji is a robot ninja so I can't stop playing him and losing. It's a love-hate relationship >_>

 

Genji's not at all bad, assuming your team can support another flanker. He's insanely maneuverable, his E is incredibly strong and he does decent damage. His ult is pretty decent too. He's a hard character to play though!

 

He's super difficult so he's only good if you know what you're doing, which I don't. Not at all like characters such as Reaper that basically anyone can pick up and play.

 

My favorite hero's have to be Pharah, and Dva. I like how Pharah can pretty much scale any height with her jet pack, and her concussion blast can push others off cliffs on the right maps. I also like the line: "Justice rains from above!" It doesn't seem like a lot of people play her either.

 

I'm not too sure about that, it seems that every match I get killed at least once by that OP 'JUSTICE RAINS FROM ABOVE' attack >_>

 

Gah, Genji's my bane in online matches. So tricky to take down unless you can freeze him with Mei. But in Player vs AI fights, I swear to god Zenyatta has it in for me. He's ALWAYS killing me at least once in every AI match I play. Like pls robo monk can you maybe chillll.

I love using Pharah, Reinhardt, Mei and (surprise) Zenyatta! Reinhardt in particular becomes my fave when I can switch to him and turn a whole match around in my team's favour. It's so much fun!

I kinda wanna 'git guddd' with Widowmaker (I've already made the mistake of calling her Black Widow; oppps) or Hanzo, but I can but snipe people poorly.

And laughable as it sounds, I fail so hard at using Bastion. Haha.
