Share some of your memorable (good or weird) part time work experiences! I love a good story time and for some reason, I really enjoy these kind of stories.
Ok, I will start. I work part time at a hotel restaurant which serve buffet to the costumers. It is always one weird thing is that no matter what. The costumers always, and I mean always, ask for water/drinks, or sugar. When there is clearly an area for the costumers to get the water/drinks themselves or the sugar is placed on their table. And they never ask for salt and pepper.
I've got a hotel story too. So, it's not exactly part time, but my institute sends selected students to ODC's (outdoor catering) which basically means you have to go to a hotel/banquet function and work as either a wait staff, kitchen staff or front desk staff. So recently I and my class went to a hotel for wait service. It was a banquet function and I was serving mocktails. So I'm standing at the bar while my tray is being filled up with heavy glasses, and I feel someone pat my arm. I look down and see two little boys there probably around 9-10 years old. And guess what they said. "Aunty, can we taste these drinks?" (Referring to those few beverages kept at the bar just for show) I'm 19 years old, and I look very much my age too. They called me 'aunty'. It's not uncommon to call much older ladies than you, 'aunty' in some Asian countries. I mean, I knew this day would come but I didn't expect it to be so soon, you know.
Kids are like that. They can people that are older than them, expect their parents and grandparents. "aunty" or "uncle". Which makes me wonder, is it wired in our brain or somehow all kids are just universally think people that are older than them, expect their parents and grandparents and cousins. "aunty" or "uncle"?
