Peacle's Platinum Playthrough~!

Hey Guys~! I have been playing a Pokémon Platinum Playthrough and I am currently in dilemma on picking my Team members. As of this point, I have defeated Gym Leaders Roark and Gardenia, and currently training in Hearthome Gym before taking on Fantina.

Current Team that I am havingIf possible with good type diversity)

= Regina - Luxio (female) (Lv25)
= Will - Crobat (Lv25)

Other Pokémon (some caught just to fill up the Pokédex)
=Fiametta - Ponyta (female) (Lv19)
=Calem - Togepi (male) (Lv7)
=The Rock - Cranidos (male) (Lv20)
= Belgarde - Bronzong (male) (Lv14)
= Chewbacca - Bidoof (female) (Lv3) (HM user)
= Thor - Pachirisu (male) (Lv9)
= Bubbles - Buizel (female) (Lv9)
= Magnus - Eevee (male) (Lv20)
If you have any suggestions on what other Pokémon to use for my Team, please feel free to give suggestions!

 

Thanks for the suggestions! I had indeed considered getting a Rapidash in my final line up, and maybe Leafeon. I've used Umbreon myself in my Heartgold playthrough (Really good wall, can take so many hits even with Bruno) Though I'd prefer to use a different Eeveelution than I've previously used.

I will indeed be catching more along the way. Till then I'll look through.

I've seen other Let's Plays of this game, and they have pretty good team members eg. Roserade, Mamoswine, Houndoom, Milotic, Gallade. So many good Pokémon ahhhh ----

 

Soulful Victory!

After defeating Fantina, I went onward and defeated Barry before heading back to Hearthome City. Instead of moving to Solaceon Town straight away, I did some backtracking to catch more Pokémon.

New Pokémon caught so far.
=Rose - Budew (female) (Lv18) - Route 208
= Brianna - Meditite (female) Lv18 - Mt Coronet (Ability: Pure power)
= Scorpius - Gligar (male) Lv18 - Underneath cycling road (Probably might not use this on my team, as I already have a flying type which is Crobat)
= Sophia - Ralts (female) Lv17 - Route 209

All these Pokémon seem also promising to be valuable members in a team. I would still consider using Fiametta on my team (given I just like the idea of Rapidash on my team and that it's underrated in some ways) and maybe evolve Magnus the Eevee into a Leafeon. However, I would like to hear you guys' suggestions first to decide the fourth team member.

Aside from that, did some digging around at Underground, as Heart Scales are relatively useful in exchanging them for moves to teach Pokémon from Move Tutors. (Though I found more spheres and only one heart scale so far.)XD

 

Upon much consideration, I took it upon myself as a challenge to use Meditite for my team. Granted it's not as popular as Gallade in terms of same typing. And yes, this Meditite has Pure power, where it doubles physical attack.

On the other hand, I have caught a Houndour at Route 214, and named her Helga (because Hellgar is Houndoom's Japanese name and Helga means "holy/blessed" in Scandinavian languages. Ironic because Houndoom's are based off hell hounds.)

Currently contemplating between using a Rapidash (less type coverage) or Houndoom (better type coverage, more weaknesses). Need to pick either one before (or after) I battle Maylene.

 

(I think I'll just put in the main points with each major battle)

Upon deciding Ponyta as the next player in the team, it was time to take on Veilstone Gym.

Maylene's Pokémon had very little chance, as Crobat had swept her entire team, though I gave enough room for Fiametta to use Ember on her Lucario before using Will the Crobat to finish it off.

On the other hand, the trek continues down to Pastoria City, where aside from fighting Barry again, I did a good amount of Pokémon catching at the Great Marsh.

Bibarel (Nickname: Chewie, HM user)
Quagsire (Nickname: Dalmatia)
Tropius (Nickname: Palme, used as HM user)
Carnivine (Nickname: Venus)

And just so I could get full data on the Buizel line, I caught a Level 25 Buizel (nicknamed Vui) and try to evolve it into Floatzel. (Doing so miserably)(Update: Vui evolved into FLoatzel. Cue cheap moment of victory)

Aside from hopefully evolving dear Vui, getting into the go for Crasher Wake's water type Gym ~ (something tells me he and Chuck (Cianwood Gym leader, not Chuck Norris) should hang out.)

 

After defeating Crasher wake (with a really narrow win with my Luxray still standing, we received the Fen badge, and had some moments of heroism by tackling the Galactic grunt that bombed the Great Marsh and another grunt that tried to set off a Bomb at Celestic Town. Also came our first instance of battling Cyrus of Team Galactic. Not as much of a narrow win as it did with Wake, but it was an intense battle to say the least.

No new catches as of now. Would consider getting a team member after defeating Byron.

 

I'm sorry, Byron, but Empoleon solo KOed your first two and Bastiodon fell to a Pokémon who wears a pair of baggy yoga pants!

Upon contemplating, I've decided to choose Houndoom in favour of Ponyta (Though I'm thinking of wanting to evolve Ponyta into Rapidash to get Pokédex information).

Plot progress :
The explosion from the EAST SIDE OF THE REGION resonated throughout Sinnoh all the way to the western most city of Canalave City! Rowan dispatched the three of us (and me to Lake Valor hurhurhur). After taking down commanders Saturn in Valor cavern and Mars in Lake Verity, the Barry hunt begins. As we go to Lake Acuity in Snowpoint.
