When doing traditional art some artists use either mechanical pencils or wooden pencils. Which do you use? Do you think one is better over the other? I always use mechanical pencils if I'm not using a pen. I like having thin lines when I sketch and I feel as if mechanical pencils are better for that?
I use mechanical pencils, as I don't have to worry about it being too blunt and having to sharpen it every single time.
I Love To Use Mechanical Pencil- It's My Top Pencil Choice All The Times But If I Need To Shade, Then I Will Use The Normal 2B Pencil (+ Not Often Pencil Sketch And Guideline).
Wow so many people here use mechanical pencils LOL. But i can see how a normal 1B pencil could help shading !
I used to use whatever pencils I had lying about, mostly wooden. Now I have a set of wooden drawing pencils (HB, 2B, 4B and 6 and graphite sticks (also HB, 2B, 4B and 6 that I use.
I use wooden pencils. I'll be 100% honest I actually can't stand using mechanical pencils. I personally find the drawing quality of them is poor, but then again most of the ones I have used in my lifetime have been cheaper models.
Get me a .7mm or .9mm mechanical pencil, and I'll be happy enough. But not .5mm, I don't like using .5mm pencils. Though I do still have some darker (like 4B and similar) sketching pencils around that I like using at times.
