I watched a let's play of Persona 3 and 4 Golden a few years ago and fell completely for the style of the game and the characters. The complexity of the characters and their lives as they fight to protect the city and then the world from the invading shadow, all the while trying to keep up with school and part-time jobs. The way they fight by summoning their inner Persona and revealing who they truly are to their teammates, it was an astounding experience, even if I was not able to play anything from the main series until now. I basically bought a PS4 to play Persona, Tales of Berseria, and Horizon Zeroawn, and surprisingly Persona was the first of these I actually bought, despite being the last to be released. I am glad I did though. Because even if I haven't had much time to play, I am already completely invested in the characters and their lives, even if I haven't managed to finish the first dungeon yet. How did you first experience Persona? Of if you haven't, what do you think of the series?
I don't quite remember when my first experience was, but I remember people were talking about Persona 4 all over the internet and I decided to see for myself what all the hubbub was about by watching a full let's play (keep in mind I was probably quite young when this happened, so I didn't have a lot of money to buy many games for myself). ...I loved it. The characters were all very well written and the story kept me engaged until the very end. The idea of summoning a Persona of yourself for battle was also very intriguing. It got me to see some of the other games in the franchise, including some of the Shin Megami Tensei games, Persona 3, and I even got a copy of Persona Q (It is also an excellent game that I highly recommend to Persona fans... but if you do play it, prepare to have your emotions destroyed like mine were). And now that Persona 5 is out, I'm considering getting that too, purely for the story. Something about being phantom thieves has me intrigued once again.
So in 8th grade my friend shows up to school with a PS2 and persona 3 as a gift for me. I didn't play that game much but then I played for 10 hours straight. I loved the game but sadly because we didn't enough ports for the system to remain out it got put away and was a bit too much effort to continually put up so I never finished the game. I was in love with it though, the idea, the art style, everything was so interesting and fun to play around with.
*Breaks through the wall in a way that would make the Koolaid guy quit his job* I HEARD PERSONA!!! Ahem, I first learned of Persona through P4G and decided to get P3P on my Vita. Beyond that, I've always known about the SMT series but never got to playing them (HUGH MISTAKE!), but now I've begun to go through the older ones after playing SMT4- I'm getting off topic! Anywho, I've learned about Persona since golden and have dedicated my life to this series~
